I had heard of that program but had no idea what it was. I guess I still don’t. I am getting a free preview this weekend which includes that show.
I turned it on just to see what it was and was greeted with a love scene of two guys. Well there goes that one. Of course I don’t normally get it anyway so it doesn’t matter.
It’s up against the Bible story and the Walking Dead finale. Good thing I got dvr.

If you read the books, GeronL, you will find that sex is in there, and it plays an important role.
I would say that the way it is described in the books between Danaerys and Khal Drogo is critical to understanding the subtlety of their relationship.
Sadly it is not done this way in season 1, but it would be very difficult to portray this fine detail via film.
I would agree with you though that it is unnecessarily injected in ways that it was not meant to be, for example the scenes between Renly and Ser Loras were not in the book, and the scenes with the red haired whore were also invented for HBO, I assume just to add spice.

They will rerun Walking Dead at 10 pm central, so I will watch Game of Thrones first, then the Dead.

It has presented in the book in much better fashion. In some cases it was beautiful I’d say. in the series it seems to be more to show some skin for the sake of showing some skin.
Ya know, I have to agree. Story is going along fine, then, brakes go on -- we have to watch a weird sex scene -- back to the story. I find it is just boring. It interrupts the story telling, and the story is so much more interesting.
I feel, at this point, that sex scenes are now almost obligatory; just like having one gay character in the show for "diversity". Just get on with the story already, stop trying to treat everyone like 18-24 year old guys.
You’re right. I went to the library and checked out the book, 2300 pages of marvelous storytelling.
I agree with you. The books are great, but there have been a couple of times where I’ve almost stopped watching the TV series because they’ve pushed it too far.
Winter is coming! This series is a big hit in Nordic nations on into Russia. Include Scotland and Iceland...its the chill and snow factor
Started to watch this and began enjoying the sets and atmosphere.
But then the crass sex started up and that was the end for me. I figure there’S always something else to watch...I don’t’t need the gratuitous junk in my life.
