I liked General Mattis, but in the end, all of our military leadership failed us in this poorly run “Global War on Terror”. We did not fight the war to win it.

Blame the spineless politicians who sent our folks off to die. Our warriors take orders from them.

I do blame our politicians, but I also blame our spineless generals too. Our generals did not stick up for servicemen who were placed in an impossible situation, with very restrictive ROE. Most of these generals are politicians, not warriors. David Hackworth got it exactly right when he called them “Perfumed Princes”.
