Back in the old days they used to call these people charlatans and frauds, now they call them “climate scientists” and “government experts”.

It's like the medieval alchemists who would hang around various courts of Europe, trying to turn lead into gold. Sometimes their failures led to execution, sometimes they were able to skip town in time.

Today, fake scientists feed off government grants, turning cold weather data into proof of warmer weather. So far, no executions, and nobody has had to skip town.

I'm thinking the the medieval world recognized bad science faster than modern governments do.
