I wasn’t arguing law, I was commenting on justice. There’s a difference but it is not apparent to all, I see.
In Tagalog, guapo is male beauty (handsome) .. guapa; female beauty
That’s taken directly from the Spanish where the same word has thecsame meaning
King Philip, Spain, Philippines .. and the many Spanish words and influence in the language and culture.
NEVER try truth with a proud Fulipina ..
They were in the early 1900s. Atleast here in the northeast.
“Shes been found not guilty. This high court decision violates the US standard I accept. If you think this un-acquittal fair perhaps you should go in her place.”
LOL! I like that thought! I’m thinking that the Italian government is searching for a distraction that will take the focus off of their sucky economic situation. A tried and true formula when dealing with those low information aka stupid voters.
Yup, guapo (in spanish) means the same. Handsome. Guappo/Guapo come from the same latin word.
Plural: guapos (sp) and guappi (it)
I never heard anybody refer to a group of italian with... “what a bunch of WOPIES!” :)
I wonder if the Italian CIA will sneak into the USA, and kidnap her for “rendition” back to Italy?
And you know she’s guilty because.....? But if she’s guilty of murder, why both with a trial? We’ll just have the White House Basement Drone Corps kill her as she drives to work next week, and save the Italian government the cost of a trial. Much simpler, and no one has to ask silly questions about double jeopardy, especially when attempted by a foreign power.
What out for that Italian drone.
I hope they are better than Italian rifles: Never fired, only dropped once.
Can you find a single reference in print? I’ve lived in the northeast almost my entire life and never heard it and I’ve been around awhile. I’m also if Irish descent and never heard a relative mention it.
If I were her. I wouldn’t even drive past a Olive Garden...
Good knowledge? did the Italian prosecutors share information with you? Did they ask you for help?
why would favorable press here help her? It could just as easily have had the opposite effect in Italy.
It is fairly obvious that Guede killed Kercher.
What seems equally obvious is that Knox and Sollecito had a pretty good idea that Guede was responsible (and probably believed his likely claims that it was an accident), but concealed their knowledge from the police because telling the unvarnished truth would have revealed that they were drug users and possibly low-level dealers.
This would make them accessories after the fact.
As to your point about Italian law, double jeopardy is unconstitutional here but is also a principle that deserves universal approbation - without it, every person is vulnerable to vindictive prosecution.
This case has exposed a flaw in the Italian legal system.
Where should she ‘disappear’ to??
With all due respect, many of us whose last name ends in a vowel
are offended by the term W@P.
I would appreciate it if you would refrain from using it or inferring, as you did, that Americans of Italian descent can be referred to by that word.
Capisce???
Sorry tsowellfan, my post #36 was intended for cynwoody, not you.
Apologies.
Maybe the mods can redirect it?
So, Burger King is now an Italian restaurant because they serve WOPPERS.
In the USA she has he right to double jeopardy protection.
Whether she did it or not is irrelevant. She was acquitted and can’t be put on trial a 2nd time.
If you don’t like the rules, then leave and go live somewhere that removes all of your rights.
