With all that's going on in Syria I thought I would ask the question..
How many of you out there believe Isaiah 17 has already been fulfilled and how many of you believe it is ABOUT to be fulfilled? Why or Why not?
Count me in the camp that says it's about to happen.
Once Al-Queda takes over Syria, they and other nations, now being led by Al-Queda thanks to Obama.. will attempt to invade Israel.
Ping!!
I thought this would be especially timely in light of what may or may not have happened in Syria over the weekend.
If Assad was shot.. that is HUGE.
Is Damascus an uninhabited heap of rubble? No? Then there’s your answer.
It may be about to be though....
I had a friend argue with me and say this prophecy was fulfilled in Isaiah 37. But I just don’t see it..
Looks like the seed of Abraham is spreading to another nation, whoever wrote that.
Damascus is still a city. Assad may or may not have been shot (I have heard both ways).
I’d say not yet.
I think Revelation is unfolding before our very eyes. How lucky are we to have been born during this time period? As a Christian, Its supposed to be a blessing but why do I feel like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before His crucifixion? (not that I could possibly know what that felt like but I am referring to the dread he probably had)
This site claims that the Iraq invasion was spelled out in Isaiah as well..

bump!
I agree it’s amazing to think we were born during this time period.
We as Christians may not be here much longer.
What does that mean?
And it’s not just the Middle East to keep an eye on. It’s the entire world.
This kinda stuff below gives me chills.
One might argue with equal justice that Isaiah 17 had been fulfilled in 636, when the Muslims conquered Damascus from the Byzantine emperor.
Or in 750, when the Abbasids reconquered it from the Rashids.
Or in 878 when the Sultan conquered it from the Abbasids.
I could go on, but the city has been sieged, conquered and reconquered a dozen times or more since the time of Isaiah.
I don't see how Sunnis seizing the city from the Alawites is any more of a fulfillment than these many previous incidents.
Plus.. the city being seized.. is a lot different than it being “in ruin”
I agree. I just see Al-Queda as forming a coalition against Israel.
ping!
Why would you think this would be the fulfillment as opposed to any other time Damascus has been invaded?
Just because it’S during your lifetime?
Because the Bible doesn’t really say “invasion” .. it says Damascus will “lie in ruin”
Which to me.. means nuclear bomb.
