(CNSNews.com) Calling it The Great Crossover, a report by academics and social activists shows that for the first time in history the median age of American women having babies is lower than the median age of marriage 25.7 and 26.5, respectively.
These dramatic changes in childbearing, the report states, results in dramatic statistics about American children. Among them, 48 percent of first births are by unwed mothers, and by age 30 two-thirds of American women have had a child, typically out of wedlock.
Kay Hymowitz, an author of the report and a William E. Simon Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, said at an event to release the report on Wednesday at the Brookings Institution, that it reflects how the view of what marriage is about has changed.

America is a land of hypocrisy where fornication is not only not addressed as a moral issue at the same level as homosexuality (the Bible is against both, equivocally) but the attitude toward it from the dominant culture, even among so-called conservatives is one of condoning / lackadaisical interest in being involved in addressing, often replaced by overt encouragement.
Polygamy is already here, albeit in the form of serial polygamy following the standard script of formication, followed by "marriage", followed by divorce in parallel with new fornications, a "marriage" or two more, and lots more fornication. The average American, including many here holding the banner for Christianity, has slept with over eight sexual partners over the course of his or her lifetime. I'm not being judgmental except to say that if your stances are Biblically-driven, address all the issues without being selective to some sins. Because otherwise, you're a hypocrite, plain and simple.
End rant.
I have emphasized this point to my teenage sons: If you father a child on some girl, you are stuck with her for life. So just don't. Get a job, get a hobby, get a dog, and if you want to be with someone for life (and have children), get married.
Quite frankly, I’m surprised it’s only as high as 48 per cent.
