FULL TITLE: Girl, 16, found dead on train tracks next to her best friend, 18, was 'in a dark place' after break-up with her girlfriend
Two teenagers have been found dead side-by-side on train tracks after one of the girls was 'in a dark place' following a recent break up with her long-time girlfriend.
Arielle Troutman, 16, and Hannah Rigley, 18, were found dead beneath a train on the edge of the McAlpine Creek Greenway in Charlotte, North Carolina early on Sunday morning.
The train driver had seen them apparently sleeping on the track, sounded his bell and pulled his emergency brake, but could not stop the train in time, and they were found dead beneath it.
But an autopsy is still pending, with authorities questioning whether the girls actually died of drugs overdoses or sudden death syndrome before they were hit.
Arielle's father, Jamie Troutman, has told the Charlotte Observer that he has yet to hear the cause of death from the police or the Mecklenburg Medical Examiner’s Office.
Yet he told the paper he is certain that his daughter, whom he described as 'goth-y', had been struggling with a recent break up.

Since when was a breakup grounds for ending your own life? I had like, a dozen breakups, and plenty more single or two- dates that never turned into a long-term relationship before I found my wife, as an approaching-30 man. Seriously, if people want to end their lives for failed teen relationships, that’s not a good sign, and unless they get over that extreme impression, not a good attitude to carry into adult life. Natural selection, in an unfortunate, but very real way, takes it’s toll.
Then there’s the sexuality issue, but my lack of condoning same-sex sex acts should be so obvious and repeated on these boards, that I don’t feel I have much of a need to go there.
You’d be amazed at how many parents leave kids in situations where the kid is alone with an older individual sometimes. I look at some kids hanging out at an older kids’ place, and figure, wow, I wonder why some parents are clueless as to how their kid got into porn, or drugs, or sex, or possibly even homosexual relationships?!!
With a child along the way, I am going to have a hard time to be willing to let my kid be as unsupervised as some parents allow their kids to be...
Maybe in his next life dad will think about raising his kids, rather than just raising his career profile...

In Maine, a few years ago, 2 girls were sunbathing on a railroad bridge and a train hit them killing 1 and cutting the legs off the other.
The parents sued the Railroad, because the railroad should have known kids would be sunbathing on the bridge.
I bet the parents will be sueing the railroad...
