Portman wants happiness for his gay son, but unfortunately, he will find his son is anything but happy.

I have met many homosexuals and they carry great burdens - of disease, addiction, promiscuity, depression and violence. I have never seen a “stable” or long-term homosexual relationship. They may exist, but I have never seen one.

Portman is greatly conflicted, but his reversal on his position will not improve one bit the consequences his son will face.

Too sadly true. He seems to only want his son's happiness, and believes that accepting his son's chosen lifestyle will bring that about. But he doesn't understand that his son's rejection of the life God made him for will only bring him grief and pain.

My view of homosexuality has evolved over the years. When I was young and foolish I believed it was ok. I now believe, even if you don't believe in G-d, you should never teach young people that it's ok. As you've noted the lifestyle has many problems and young people are too easily led down the wrong path. Unfortunately Mr. Portman, according to my belief, has condemned both he and his son, and countless others, to a punishment that brings tears to my eyes. Had he been strong enough to stand by the law of G-d his son may have come around when he matured. Now, I fear, he will get too deep into the homosexual lifestyle to get out.
