Everything Wrong With Skyfall In 4 Minutes Or Less
I agree with Casino Royale being the best Craig Bond movie. This will be blasphemy to some, but I like it better than any Bond movie. I like that it’s a more realistic version of Bond.
You’re welcome. She always makes me think of those Mummy movies.
It’s been a few years since I’ve read the novels, but it seems the movies never quite got Fleming’s Bond.
I understand “license” to make fictional movies, but the superhuman physical and mental abilities of the cinematic Bonds defy reality. Maybe the movie makes felt like they needed the flash and bang.
I’ve never read any of the novels, so I don’t have the books in my head when I see the flicks.
Movies are never as good as the books. Books have so much detail, plus you picture scenes and characters in your mind as well.
2. No beautiful chicks
3. Head bad guy lauqhable not evil
4. Music sucks
5. Minimal cool cars
6. No cool gadgets 7. Did I mention 3 naps, my tush hurt watching it....boring
Well, I guess the willing suspension of disbelief didn’t work, so next time maybe try the involuntary suspension of disbelief. If that doesn’t work, we’ll just have to stop going to Bond films.
The movie had no idea what it was supposed to be or where it was going. It was fragmented with each fragment trying too hard. That destroyed continuity. Consequently, I could not “suspend disbelief” and found myself frustrated with the movie.
Terrible waste of a good movie franchise. Watch it at home. Purchase the disc only if you must have it for a complete Bond movie collection.
Hubby and I watched it a few weeks ago. He liked it a lot; my reaction was that it was well made movie; but, I like a little more plot (or any plot) in my movies.
Agreed. It’s difficult as a huge Hammer Horror fan. Christopher Lee is a favorite of mind. However I thought Skyfall was Very Good.
Love the tag line. Lol. So true.
OK, I’ll bite...and thanx for the thread, Perdogg....
Hated it!
The bad guy was almost like able; no love for Judi’s “M” so didn’t care that she bought it; HATED the bit with “Moneypenny” portrayed as a slutty incompetent; Bond on a bender was stupid and not “humanizing”; Albert Finney made me feel very old (loved him when he and I were both young); and Fiennes as the new “M” is bad casting...he looks younger than Craig.
Major fail and I love “Casino Royale”.
Oh, and whoever cast the new “Q” ought to lose their license.
When you refer to ‘M’, are you talking about Messi and his 2 first half goals against AC Milan to move on in the Champions league?...just kidding.
Bond’s partner/shooter reminds me a bit of of the first Mrs. Lurkin.
“6. No cool gadgets “
Yup that’s why I hated it as well. It was like any of the Borne Identity films,. boring.. not true James Bond. They even seemed to make a point of it when the new “Q” gave him a gun and a transmitter, and that was it. Big yawn from me. I like the Bond gadgets.
*shudder*
Ruined the whole movie. If your antagonist is so unbelievable (unbelievably bad) ... I mean the whole idea was so misguided, it made Mathieu Amalric's powder puff as Dominic Green in 'Quantum' look like Hans Gruber.
1) I noticed the thing about M’s bag ‘disappearing’ from Mallory’s office when I saw it the first time in the movie theatre. However, this can be easily explained as she might somewhat ‘swerve’ to pick it up as Mallory is talking with her (as she leaves the office) — and then we see her in the next scene leaving his office.
2) Silva could’ve planned his escape and all that ensued afterwards without knowing that Bond would be in Macau in lieu of Patrice not being there. He could’ve easily put the ‘wheels in motion’ once James stepped off the island with Severine, who was then killed. I don’t see an issue with this. He knew how James thinks...
I thought “Skyfall” was a terrific film and I personally put it top on my list of Bond films.
I also saw “The Man With The Golden Gun” last night and have watched every Bond movie since the marathon started on March 4th. (I’m tired every morning because I stay up ‘til 11pm watching TV when I normally go to bed at 8pm, but it’ll be all over by March 25th!)
I enjoy Maurice Binder’s opening credit scenes from the 1960s and 1970s and they remind me of the opening credits for “Skyfall”. I also enjoy Guy Hamilton’s directing.
I had forgotten how great “Thunderball” and “Goldfinger” were. In listening to the songs from the hit-makers of the era (Nancy Sinatra, Tom Jones, Lulu, for example), I’m taken back to that time — even though I was a toddler and a very young girl. It’s the music my parents listened to...
Having said that, I’m happy for the Bond franchise and for EON Productions — I think they did a great job with “Skyfall” and I like Craig a lot.
Spot on! No doubt. Diamonds are Forever is Probrably my favorite. I forget who did the soundtrack, but it has always stayed with me.
