Mid week nonsense time-

what was a better TV cop show in the 50's and early 60's - Highway Patrol (1955) or Dragnet (1951)?

Pls keep your comments to those two shows

The other odd thing about the cop cars on HP is that they are all two doors. So when they haul some tough in, Dan pulls the seat forward so the bad guy can crawl in to the back.

Imagine that in today’s world?? Ha!!

Lots of the old detective shows.
No HP but several Dragnet episodes.
All Public Domain.

Even has an episode of “The Thin Man” with guest star Robbie the Robot.
My faves are “Lock Up” and “Follow That Man”.

Sumimasen

I used to travel to Kansei area frequently for business. I miss the great TV ,,,,and of course my Hanshin Tigers.

I wonder if there is a Jack Webb equivalent in Japan (now THAT would be something!!)

‘Surfside 6’ had the best theme song. ‘Route 66’ and ‘Peter Gunn’ were pretty good, too. As far as other TV shows from the era, I can still picture Preston Foster steering his tugboat on ‘Waterfront’, and that great big schooner, with all the sails from ‘James A. Michener’s Adventures in Paradise’, starring Gardner McKay. I wish I was a teenager in the ‘60s again.

Those “end tags” were something of a motif with Ziv productions. I think most of them did it for a while... “Sea Hunt,” “Dr. Christian,” “Mr. District Attorney,” and such.

Not too much different than having the actors doing sponsor spots in similar-era network shows. But the Ziv shows were mostly made-for-syndication, so they didn’t have uniform sponsors.

Uh, a Mercruiser is not an ‘outboard’ boat engine.
