Largest handguns I own are a 500 Linebaugh Ruger Bisley, a 50GI Glock and 1911A1 from Guncrafters Industries and a Super Redhawk in 45 Colt / 454 Casull .
Then there is my TC Contender in 45-70 .....:o)
Thats as big as I can afford.
Stay safe !
Will Joe Biden tell him to fire it through a door?
A 5 oz. bullet would be a 2187 grain bullet.
To put that in perspective, a trapdoor 45/70 shot a 500 grain lead bullet. It took 14 of those bullets to weigh a pound. This bullet would be more than 4 times that large.
Looks like a fake photo. But who knows.
Nope

Alright, so I made a mistake, either way that is a hell of a heavy bullet.
Yep, it is. I would not want to be the one shooting it.

Get yourself a 444 Marlin barrel for that Contender. Great fun.
My best of the best use is a TC Contender I built long ago.
Custom Barrel in .223, 16 inch bull barrel, Burris LER 2-12X, Pachmyer Furniture, extra swivel stud on front w/ harris BR-S bipod. Use it as my EDC long range Yote and Sod Poodle tool.
Works well, is easy to put in my day pack that rides on the front seat and is minute of bunny at 400 yard accurate off the truck mirror.
My current “teach a lesson in recoil” tool is a Ruger No 1 Tropical rechambered to 460 Weatherby Mag..... :o)
That 444 Marlin has to hurt, I know the 45-70 does ...:o)
Stay safe !
To make a "Big Boom!
What good is it?
It makes a "Big Boom!"
Sometimes, you just want to shoot something that makes a "Big Boom!"
I once came this close (holding finger & thumb right next to each other) to buying a Thompson Center Contender in some ridiculously large caliber... I was thinking about something in .444 Marlin or 45-70 (Remember, this is a pistol!). Then I heard about JD Jones and I began looking into a .375JDJ. Turns out that this pistol caliber has been used to take EVERY large, dangerous animal on the planet, including Cape Buffalo and Elephant.
But then I came to my senses... I just decided that if I wanted to make a "Big Boom," I could do so quite well using my Ruger Redhawk in .44Mag with 300gr JFP and a butt load of 296. Huge fireball and lots of recoil.

Fun story, Had just gotten a 444 Marlin 12” muzzle braked barrel for the Contender.
Set a thick comforter over the hood of the pickup with some sand bags. Fired about 20 300 gr. hard cast rounds through it. Not bad on the recoil although you know you shot something. LOL
Packed up and heading back home driving when I noticed a dent in the hood of the truck from my right elbow.
Doh!
Take care Bud. Have fun with that Ruger. Beautiful rifle.
Even then .44 magnum was smaller than .45 casull or even .45 colt.
Because you can!
