Schools across Beaver County were placed on lockdown Thursday after one person misheard a student's voicemail. Police said a worker calling to confirm a doctor's appointment with an Ambridge High School student heard the theme song to the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when she attempted to call. The worker said she called police when she misheard the lyrics -- which she claimed said "shooting people outside of school."
The actual lyrics to the song say "shooting some b-ball outside of school."
The call to 911 forced the entire district into lockdown for about 30 minutes and police said they detained the 19-year-old student for three hours while searching his locker, before determining that it was all one big misunderstanding.
"He was afraid and embarrassed. Obviously staff at the doctor's office was embarrassed about the whole thing too," said Ambridge police Officer Mike Natale.
This be illin’
Haha. This made my day.
shooting b-ball outside the school...
You gotta see this (( ping )).
I don’t know what I am more surprised at: That a kid would have a 25-year-old rap song as his ring tone? Secondly, there are a lot of actually violent rap songs, but this probably the least offensive, least threatening rap song of all time.
Did any dogs get shot?
A 19 year old still in high school..?
10th grade, probably.
Reminds me of the time they locked down the local hospital because someone was returning a borrowed kayak paddle to a hospital employee.
“Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?”
I would imagine Mae West would never have seen the outside of a jail house were she to make this statement in todays “Bizzaro” World.
As bad as being on the plane and shout out to an ‘old friend’
“HI JACK!!”
Shooting basketballs should be banned.
I better change my “Who Let The Dogs Out?” message so I don’t get billed for a lot of wasted overtime from county’s Animal Control department.
Really?
It took three hours to search one locker?
“It took three hours to search one locker?”
Either the cops were trying to get over-time pay, or they were serving donuts in the school cafeteria that day.
Ping
the kid probably watches Fresh Prince of Bel Air reruns... the theme song is pretty catchy... you can't help but sing it after you hear it... yes, Will Smith's music is pretty mild... at least his mainstream stuff, which is all i know of his music... i don't remember any of it being offensive... Parents Just Don't Understand, Welcome to Miami, Summer Time, Men in Black, Wild Wild West... Gettin Jiggy Wit It... ha!
I hope Patrice Rushen got a lot of money for that song.
