I know what would revitalize McDonald’s bottom line. Take the advice of competitors and learn from it.

“My opinion is that the media is the main
supporter of healthy eating. We’re certainly
not hearing it from our customers”
— Andrew Puzder, CEO of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.

When McDonald’s tried to make it menu healthier, to please some radicals who publicly derided and despised their food, they made a cardinal error: Do not try to please critics, if it displeases your customers. Critics probably don’t buy what you are selling anyway.

Whataburger is a favorite hamburger chain in the Southland, and they are very proud that their menu is almost just like it was in the 1950s, at least as far as its hamburgers go.

Their hamburger is about the width of a saucer and you have to use two hands to eat it unless you use a knife and fork. It is big and is wrapped in paper. A Whataburger will feed a hungry adult.

The zinger is that McDonalds Big Mac used to be the same size as a Whataburger. Today it is barely larger than a slider.

So hey, McDonald’s! Why not make a “retro” Big Mac like you used to? Sure it might cost twice as much, but it would be worth it.

Yeah, it would upset the calorie chart used by the snoots, but they already hate your food, so why do what they want?

Go back to selling food and making big money.

Exactly. The Gaeans and the health-food freaks won’t be seen dead at McDonalds in any case. So why cater to them?

I almost always have a takeout Big Mac Meal, with fries and a Pepsi. That’s OK, since I usually only go there a couple of times a year, while traveling. I was really PO’d the last couple of times, when I ordered my usual small order of fries, and found it only half the usual size, courtesy of Muchelle. So, now I have to order a medium Big Mac Meal.

Had a great BBQ burger this week at Carl’s. Lots of cheese, onion ring straws and other stuff. Really messy to eat but wonderful. Just may have to go back.

I prefer McDonalds to Hardee’s menu most of the time. After Hardees quit offering their Fried Chicken, I almost never go there anymore except for breakfast. I do like there little thick burger.

As for McDonalds, I like the Kids meal better with the apples. We just buy an extra bag of frys to share since the frys in the kids meall are too small.

I like to eat a burger and salad myself. Sometimes I just have frys and a salad. If I have a big Mac, I just cut it in half and share or else eat the rest later.

I also like the McDouble and the Fish sandwich.

I like Wendy’s menu the best, but we don’t have one here. Love their frosties.

Could be that the hands you use to hold the Big Mac are a bit bigger than they were back in the day.

I'm not sticking up for McD's. My problem with them is that their hamburgers seem to not be made of meat.

According to my stomach, their sandwiches are made from fat that's been scientifically textured to look like food. Sort of like CGI you can chew on.

It’s been 22 years for me since i’ve eaten a McDonalds hamburger of any kind. However i get the “crave” for sliders daily! Love me some gut grenades...
