Has anyone noted that Putin keeps making bold statements about open conflict with the United States.
I question the fact that "He is not exactly stupid" even if he is a bit arrogant.
Does anyone have any insight or thoughts on why Putin would make open threats when it would not to be to his advantage to do so if he REALLY intended to attack us?
My "Logical" mind says he is making such statements just to intimidate our politicians and NOT to forewarn an actual invasion.
ANY THOUGHTS?
We are the one who should be doing the job.
Not “overthrowing” but removing all the crooks.
We should. I tried and it sounds like you tried. The problem is that there to many weak minded people who "wanted" all the free stuff that Obama promised.
Birds of a feather stick together. Putin and Obama have obviously joined forces (a long time ago) to overthrow our government.
You can take the jungle bunny out of the jungle but you can't make them think or care for others rights. All they want is REVENGE.
There are thousands who want a free meal and lots of hands outs and Obama "promised" them all that and a $hit load of revenge on the "White Man" and the "Rich".
Of course they will NEVER see those promises come to fruition but at some point they will realized that they got screwed Obama Style.
Or we go to the aid of Russia when China sends forty or fifty million troops across...
Lotsa prime real estate in Russia!
Russian population density less than ten people per square kilometer.
China population density over one hundred forty people per square kilometer.
>>>>The Putin regime is hardly Slavophile. Putin has been aggressive and antagonistic to other Slavic nations. He threaten Poland with missile attacks and he said Ukraine was not even a real country. Russia’s only Slavic ally is Belarus, and even they don’t like each other very much. Russia pays lip service the Serbs, but remember, the Croats are Slavic too. Even Serbia wants to join the EU because Putin pulled Russia’s troops out of Serbia and abandoned them to their fate.<<<<
You are right. Putin is a “westernist” by Russian standard. Earlier Putin is the most pro-American leader in Russian history as well. He was first to call Bush and offered real support to US after 9/11, he has practically handed Central Asia into US control for counter-terror efforts. He offered tons of valuable intelligence and so on in war on terror.
The problem is it ended with NATO enlargement and missile shield deal for Europe, Kosovo, more gay rights promotion in Russia etc. These things are very sensitive for Russian voters and he was close to be impeached.
Putin was a good learner. No more goodies for American communist government.
My comment was made “tongue in cheek”.
Any rational observer would conclude America is about to be simply handed over to the Chinese and/or the Islamists. Perhaps Ivan concludes, “WTH, I might as well step in and take it!”
I have to say, that probably would be preferable to where we are headed.
Would anyone actually notice if an anti-American communist took over from Obama?
The people I met from Russian, eventually became citizens of America. These people, from Russian, were classified as Russian Jews in their homeland. When the opportunity came they ran as fast as they could for the exits to leave Russia. Some of the stories and words told me of the suffering, by these people at the hands of authorities in Russia, would curl your toenails.
Against whom? The Russians and the Chinese?
I didn’t necessarily say that Putin was Slavophilic, just that Russians periodically are, and Putin has to respect that when they are.
More so, Slavs are divided into eastern and western Slavs, with Russia mostly concerned with the eastern and Balkan Slavs. It’s not a particularly nice relationship, both protective and controlling. Even today, Russians are resentful at the eastern European western Slavs who are angry with the post-war Russian occupation. The Russians think they should have been grateful.
Trying to label Putin is not easy, because he is both appropriately nationalistic and recovery oriented, hoping to reestablish the alliances of the Soviet Union, such as Syria, Cuba, and others. Likewise, he has a love/hate relationship with China, that is now menacing Siberia, demographically, if not militarily.
On top of that, Putin has to embrace the Russian Orthodox church against both Islam and the other Christian and other religions that would culturally invade Russia.
It is a right royal mess, and he is in charge of it.
Obama wants socialism, this is true, but Russia doesn’t particularly want to overrun us. In fact, while they would vie with us over resources, and definitely want their military power back, several times they have warned us against becoming socialist.
They now have a much smaller, professional military, and nowhere near the capability to “force project.” They can barely maintain their country, and are losing control over Siberia by default, which is almost half their country, but very Russian.
They have only 142m people, and their median age is 38 (35.5 for men, 42 for women, which is too old to be effectively militant. (To explain, the US median age is 37, but we have a lot of old people, and our average life expectancy is 78. The life expectancy of a Russian man is 60. So if you lop off a lot of their aged, as a population they are considerably older overall. Source: CIA Factbook)
“Another delusional fool for Putin/Obama.”
Sometimes you feel paranoid just because you are a paranoid.
Russia is a third world country. Half the road system is ony passable in the dry season. 50 miles out of Moscow its oxen and carts. They have no infrastructure and have not produced a new product since about 1975. They rely totally on oil and natural gas. When the price of oil drops they are totally broke. last year the whole wheat crop failed. Their military hardware is a joke. They are not going to invade the USA. They would have a hard time taking back the Ukraine and Georgia.
Am happy it shows, but was no brag, just fact.
You have some points here but actual Russian today PPP GDP per capita is closer to Idaho or Missisipi than to Mexico or Nigeria. There are rows of McMansions and luxury cars 50 miles away from Moscow and other major cities.
Yeah, I think at some point, Red China will screw Russia and all the fun begins. With falling population, she might not have enough boots on the ground to fight them so that means one thing will be used. Atomic weapons. Yeah, I think the talk about Russia taking us over is generally hyperbole (although we are doing it to ourselves with socialism), they can’t even take Afghanistan at the height of their power. Today, I think the Pennsylvania National Guard would be more than a match.
