I agree with most of your post. This administration certainly represents the 60s ideal (welfare state socialism verging on communism). But I think a few of the more mature journalists are beginning to see the totalitarian beginning to come out from behind the White House curtain.
George Orwell was a man of the Left until he realized that socialism almost always leads to totalitarianism. It's possible Leftist journalists realize that a second civil war really might not advance their Utopian political causes.
I'm sure we all know that the intimidation has been going on regularly ever since Hussein hit the scene. I'm just surprised that it has taken this long to come out into the open.
If there are some good honest journalists out there who really care about reporting the news I hope we see them coming out now because we could really use them. I remember a time when journalists actually reported the NEWS instead of being so utterly biased like they are now..right now we are not seeing journalists, we are seeing the media as puppets for the White House..that is very dangerous..Obama is already a very dangerous and powerful man, top that with the media in his back pocket and its truly scary times. Maybe with Woodward we have a chance to save this country..maybe just maybe some journalists with a soul will see the light and report what is really going on behind the scenes

I used my WWII G.I. Bill opportunity to go/attend U.C. Berkeley. I can tell you for sure that although we knew there was a commie faction it was by no means the/a controlling part of university life/influence. I will grant that the environment has changed since but my education at UofC was very much apart from the eatery we vets called the ‘commie kitchen’. I suspect that there are still many of us still alive, perhaps not enough.
The education system is where it starts, too many commie libs teaching our young people, that is why so many young people today register as Dems..its what they are taught..the second they get into these colleges where they are taught by far left teachers they are pretty much brainwashed..we need to get more Conservative teachers teaching the young people of today..and more Conservatives need to become journalists, too many libs controlling the media
There is two things which could be going on here.
A distraction away from another national topic or the beginning of pushing aside of people who are no longer useful.
Let’s remember the Press and Clinton. He got the royal treatment from them too - now Lanny Davis????

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible be hunted down and punished.
Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises, an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington, DC, who are now dead would be alive today.
THINK ABOUT IT! It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for her forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir yet to be written. This from two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events while under oath.

The Clinton wing of the Evil Party may be looking ahead to 2016—they may sense that Obama will crash and burn and want some distance from him. They know who their candidate will be...they don’t know who Valerie will tell Obama to support, other than it won’t be Hillary.

My cynical mind is reading this kerfuffle as nothing more than the White House and their sycophants in the SRM creating a big nothing burger to divert attention away from other, more serious issues, such as the release of criminal illegal aliens from federal custody.
