In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
paraph \PAR-uhf\, noun
a flourish made after a signature, as in a document, originally as a precaution against forgery.
Example sentences:
The manuscript's most tantalizing feature is a scribal paraph with the initials IB at the end of Certain sonnets...
-- H. R. Woudhuysen, Sir Philip Sidney and the Circulation of Manuscriptsa
His worried expression, however, was not just a mask for the moment. Of late, it had become his most distinctive feature, his peculiar paraph.
-- Ken Anderson, The Statue Of Pan
The paraph is only a schematic and marginal countersignature, a fragment of signature; indeed, who can claim to decipher a whole signature?
-- Jacques Derrida, Mémoires
Etymology:
Though early incarnations of paraph appear in Italian, Middle French, and Middle English, its earliest origins are Greek with para-meaning "beside" and the final -ph resulting from graphos, referring to text.root alloquī address."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Prayers for a speedy and pain-free recovery.
I’ll pay close attention for the re-run on Sat.
This, I believe, is how Obamacare is going to “slide in” before it is even supposed to be implemented.
I am over 60, widowed, and have no health insurance. I guess if I do get sick, I’ll just go home, curl up and wait for the Lord to take me.
Actually, that might be more pleasant than trying to get any help from “The System”.
Not only will I pray for his comfort, I’ll also pray for good flying weather It is STiLL snowing lightly in Milwaukee. (3 days now) Don’t know the situation in Minneapolis, but the storm is moving east, meaning that it will impact you all before long. Maybe Sat. will be a better travel day.
What an awful thing to have happen away from home-prayers for his getting better quick, and thank God it is an outpatient fix now. You stay calm so that he does not sense your stress, too-you might want to make some valerian or camomile tea tonight-the valerian is stronger, but be careful with it.

Cloudy and 54, but at least it is not windy-the woods seemed very quiet this morning after 3 days of hearing the wind howling overhead in the trees.
Obama’s very special paraph
Is his snooty, bad attitude-
Maybe he thinks he is royalty,
Or just entitled to be rude
He even has his minions send
E-mails with veiled threats
To certain rebellious reporters-
And that’s as dumb as it gets
Folks like Woodward don’t let go-
He lighted Nixon, and let him burn
Guys like that invented tricks
Obama’s amateurs will never learn...
that was wild!
I had to look-it was hilarious-and it really entertained my pets, too-their eyes were glued to the monitor...
Done! Healing and safe travel wishes for him too.
Well...this is strange.
The kidney stone, which was over 7mm (The size of a large pea) has suddenly just “disappeared”. It doesn’t show up in any of the latest tests or x-rays, and it WAS there before. And it was too big to have “passed” unnoticed.
Well...we HAVE been praying, haven’t we?
Sometimes when our prayers are answered, it’s hard to fathom!
Well now we need to pray for that poor dear lady to be healed of the trauma inflicted by the system.
PRAISE THE LORD.
thanks. Heard from karim a bit ago that the stone is too big to laser, without potentially causing bleeding from aggravating the surrounding tissue, which would cause him to have to stay there a few days. The dr knew he would rather not do that so he put in a stent to alleviate the pain somewhat to get him home where he will have to go immediately to the ER to have it lasered to dissolve it here at home. They are going to extend the stay at the hotel another night and take the first flight out in the AM.
WOW, that is amazing! thanks be to God indeed!
I enjoy paraph and ale, ya know what I mean?
thanks AFTR, i heard no mention of snow from either xshub or Karim, but i was worried about it impacting their flying.
The snow has stopped here for now. Hopefully it will move out of the way of your husband’s plane and he returns home quickly and uneventfully.
Amen.
Still praying for xshub!
Thanks!
