"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

Hello, FRiends! It's fundraising time, so the Big Broadcast will have that guy on with Ed, pleading for cash with the phone ringing sound effects in the background.

We have a Suspense! Ingrid Bergman is on Lux. And, the WAMU-given air date of the Dragnet episode was 1951, not 1952, and Tales of the Texas Rangers was 1952, not 1951, and the Lux play was January 26, 1948, not November 26, all three according to Mr. Goldin's records.

Thanks to J. David Goldin's RadioGOLDINdex for these brief synopses.

Hey Gina, how are you? Things?

I’m in test hell. I’ve got to take a professional examination tomorrow and am short on time and sanity. Do you have time to host tonight? For some reason the thread has been slow lately so it shouldn’t be bad. I’ll pop in and be around...

Gina, i think I’m coming along as expected. Only have to wear sling for bed or when I go out. Exercises are less painful.

This episode of Gunsmoke “Feud.” that’s playing now was also on Gunsmoke the 30 min. TV show [B&W]. I didn’t know they used some of the same scripts....

Yes, they “recycled” scripts often (there’s nothing new under the sun :-). In fact, this Gunsmoke—you can see above in the short synopsis—was used another time on the radio series, and it was called “Twelfth Night.” Ed just played it back at Christmas.

Evening, gang. Hope all is well.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

I didn't know that....In the TV version the ending was different, in that in the end the hillbillies invited Matt an Chester back to celebrate to the 12th day Christmas meal....maybe they tied the two plots together....HA

I think they also tweaked the ending of the other radio version of it. The hillbillies discovered they were cousins or something. All very cute stories.

I’m sorry you’ve had a crummy day, Vision. I wondered where you were, and I’m glad you’re back. Time to let go, as you said! Have a nice, stiff drink, or at least a cold one. :-)
