I’m actually glad it’s 2013 and not the 80s. Can you imagine this happening during the cold war? Still, I agree regarding our media.

We all think alike now...was thinking the same thing I.E. Cold War a minute ago. Wow! Can you imagine? Could have sparked a nuclear exchange.

I read a short story about 10-12 years ago where that happened. A meteorite strikes Moscow, destroying most of the city. The Russians think it was the US launching a preemptive strike, so they launch a "retaliatory" strike against the West. The story dealt mainly with the post-strike world, but it is scary to imagine What if? scenarios like that.

Remember the shock of 9-11? Now multiply that by a thousand, throw in the fear of the unknown (we at least partially knew what was hitting us) along with a century of animosity, and you have a recipe for disaster.
