Madison Speaking on his monthly radio show Tuesday night, Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez shared a nugget of information that should cheer football fans who long for better nonleague games.
According to Alvarez, Big Ten officials recently agreed to stop scheduling nonconference games against FCS programs.
The nonconference schedule in our league is ridiculous, Alvarez said on WIBA-AM. Its not very appealing
So weve made an agreement that our future games will all be Division I schools. It will not be FCS schools.

OK for a STUPID question, What is “FCS”?
FCS is Football Championship Subdivision and FBS is Football Bowl Subdivision.
Championship Subdivision for the former 1-AA teams (App. State, Murray State), because they play a playoff to decide their championships.
Bowl Subdivision for the former 1-A teams (like Michigan, USC, Florida) because they all play in bowls.
o ok, Thank You!

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Well, I look at this from another perspective. Actually those smaller schools that lose 56-0 against bigger schools benefit from the television money that otherwise their schools would not see.
They need to drop Purdue, Illinoise, and Indiana. They are about as good as an FCS school too.
Appalachian State 34 Michigan 31
Ahem.
“North Dakota State is the reigning champion.”
Two years in a row I might add. The Bison could beat anyone in the Big 10. They have a very impressive record since moving up to the FCS. They were not even eligible for the playoffs for a few seasons. I think the Big 10 coaches are scared. Look what Appalachia State did to mighty Michigan in Rich Rods first season.
Basketball is different.
The Big Ten deals with this by looking at flight times ~ and 'balance' ~ they want the big basketball schools and some big football schools ~ but they can't get everything!
That’s cause they’re scared to play Appalachian State again.

Ohhh...so that’s why there’s is talk about Indiana and WKU renewing their home and home contract.
California Bears 63, Presbyterian Blue Hose 12 (Sept. 17, 2011).
Wisconsin Badgers 70, Austin Peay Governors 3 (Sept. 25, 2010).
Sheesh, what’s your point? Really takes courage to be a front runner, takes a total lack of a sense of humor to misread my point, and a total lack of knowledge to put Cal and Bama in the Big Ten.
Bad day?
however, its pretty ridiculous that some big schools play several of these smaller schools just to get it in the win column.
Bcs is weird. It’s better to lose to a top ranked team (like ‘bama) than crush an unranked opponent.
Notre Dame?
You mean those guys who forgot to go the national championship game?
