Word For The Day, February 12, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
expostulate [ik-spos-chuh-leyt]
-vi
to reason earnestly with someone against something that person intends to do or has done; remonstrate
[152535; < Latin expostulātus demanded urgently, required (past participle of expostulāre ). See ex-1 , postulate]
Fat Tuesday ping.

should you be shriven?
No. Fun today, shriving over the next 6 weeks.
What will Barry say? Easy to speculate
Against our way of life, he’ll expostulate
For the socialist way
Gay marriage? Okay!
If I watch, I’ll drink Scotch to inoculate
They’re going to start having a weekly Latin Mass in Latrobe. First and only one in the diocese. I’ll have to check it out.
That’s very cool. I think that its Pope Benedict’s influence that has caused the proliferation of Latin masses. I am so disgusted with the slime that i am seeing thrown at him. It’s just awful.
No, after Mass we all leave. When do they say this, before or after the dismissal and closing hymn?
A lot of our African priests say the Hail Mary during mass after we pray for others. I have seen it with several of them. The whole church joins them. No prayers to St. Michael here.
I'll be watching and rooting for the Golden in memory of my beautiful, departed Max. Yesterday I had an eery experience. I live on 12 acres and I don't see other people's animals here EVER. Yesterday a large dog crossed my backyard TWICE. Max would never have allowed that. The dog was just romping in the snow -- first far from the house and then closer on his 2nd pass. It was like a message, but I don't know from whom, or what it meant. I keep staring out of the window waiting for that phantom dog to return.
after dismissal and prior to the closing hymn.
yes, i have seen priests pray the hail mary during the prayers of the faithful, it’s not routine, but it’s done.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Divine Power of God - cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
I meant to add that the dog show is on the USA channel. In fact the first half is showing this morning — right now. I think that half is also on USA, although it originally aired on CNBC last night. The first half was the Hounds, Toy, NonSporting, and Herding breeds.
