Seem wierd, Subaru is traditionally LIBERAL and I am Uber-Conservative. We LOVE it thus far(220 Miles on it as of this morning).

As a Miata owner, I can empathize. Miatas come with their own baggage, at least among people who aren’t car enthusiasts.

Good for you on purchasing the Forester. I like ‘em. They have clean classic SUV lines. Not like the slopey dowdy mommy-mobile looks of the Rav4, CRV, and the new Escape.

I own a 2011 Subaru STI. Drives like a Cheetah on dry pavement and thru the snow and does 160mph. LOVE IT!

We are considering the purchase of a Mazda CX-5.
Any thoughts or advice, anyone?

I have a Subaru Outback. Great car for snow and ice.
I have a bumper sticker I got from one of my inlaws. It says: “I’d rather be hunting and gathering.”
It seems to have universal appeal, from rednecks to hippies.

A “boxer” engine is a horizontally-opposed engine, such as that in your Subaru (see also: air-cooled VW, mid- or rear-engine Porsche).

Nothing wrong with good, practical, well-built durable cars. My kids helped me buy a 2013 Honda Fit last year which some libtards also drive.
I feel good about not paying my fair share of gas tax because it gets great gas mileage. I feel even better about not giving any money to the Democrat party because it wasn't built by a union worker in a government owned plant.
Quite frankly, it is a little small for passengers other than my wife and I, but that is who occupies it 98% of the time. A little bigger load capacity would also be nice 2% or so of the time when I need to haul big cargo, but considering the ownership cost I save 98% of the time, I can afford to rent something bigger on those occasions.
Ultimately, that's what has to drive vehicle buying decisions, not what somebody else does.

The 2.5 litre engine on the Foresters is quite zippy. My problem is with the last-century transmission they come with.
A 4 speed automatic? Are you kidding me?
That, and they get subpar gas mileage. (due to being 4WD)

Paranoia.
Miles driven tax, tracking.
It's the first thing I'd do if I bought a new vehicle.

Nothing, really, aside from the fact that they are pretty wide. OTOH, they’re also not very tall, which is how Subaru is able to put the spare tire in the engine bay (at least they used to do that).

Been driving my Forester since Sept 17, 2001.
Had my tag line on the back windshield, and Gadsden flag/Obama scream picture on both side windows since Feb 2009.
Had been driving libs here mad ever since. A few times some tried to drive me off the road ......
