“World Murder Statistcs”: Murderers 7, Victims 0.
The United States had only a small fraction of that number.
Use that when some leftwingtard tells you she'd like America to be more like Europe.
I think that it is real, seems like I saw it here on FR a while back.
Doesn’t that imply that all those murders were with firearms, when in fact they were not?
BA
Something does not compute.
All the countries listed do not allow gun ownership...other than the US, which was probably their point.
To continue I found a site dealing specifically with Venezuela. This list has it's rate around 45.1, the other site, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/9769897/Venezuela-murder-rate-soars.html lists it just for Caracas at over 200 per 100,000.
Again there seems to be something not quite Kosher in this.
I am not trying to pooh-pooh the premise given by the article as I fully believe the Dims and Libs are trying to go to Socialism any way they can. But I do believe we should argue with sustainable and correct facts, not smoke and mirrors.
While not as bad as Honduras 88 murders per 100,000, it makes the drug war plagued Mexico look almost tame with its 15 per 100,000 rate. The United States averages about 4.8 murder per 100,000, according to recent United Nations statistics.
These stats seem more realistic. They do tend to support the premise of the article.
Look at the term itself 'fire' means 'fire' or 'flame' ~ and 'arm' means sword, mattock, spear, knife ~ and even pointed sticks called pikes.
In more recent times we've come differentiate between personal firearms and bombs ~ but back in the good old days they didn't.
BTW, a number of years ago I walked past a parcel unit in Provo Utah and was exiting the building right there when a BOMB went off in that unit. Could have been really bad, but it wasn't Didn't even draw blood, but the 'bomb' was made up of a triggering mechanism that linked to a bunch of shotgun shells!
It was wrapped in nails.
That was a FIREARM, not a hammer ~
Nauru has less than 10,000 people--so their rate may reflect one person being murdered.
>>>>The United States 4.2
ALL the countries above America have 100% gun bans.<<<<
With all due respect your list is absolute incorrect.
First of all murder statistics counted differently in most countries. For that reason some of them with twice figures of the United States are practically safer than most American inner cities.
Second. Jamaica, Estonia and Lithuania has probably more gun freedom comparing to United States.
In Jamaica they had a gun ban in 1974. It led to massive protests and crime rise so it was lifted. They are allowed to own and carry everything except artillery, grenades and military grade select-fire guns (semi-auto AK and evil “black rifle” are pretty legal).
Russia, Mexico, Kazakhstan has no 100% gun ban as well.
(AK-47 and AR-15 semi-auto considered hunting and home-defense things in Russia. Thus short handgun ownership require tons of paperwork you still can’t say it’s banned).
It is only what I know. I’m sure most of the above has no 100% gun bans as well and 80% are practically safer than Detroit.
Would not surprise me....some of the numbers I have seen before
The US does have a low murder rate compared to many gun-control nations. It is high compared to Western Europe...but low compared to the Third World
During the last century we had both WWI and WWII take place primarily in Europe. Murder was not confined to the battlefield in either war. The primary instruments of death were firearms ~ and once you unleashed the sort of firepower they had at that time you would necessarily end up with many deaths by disease, but also this time by starvation and just bric a brac falling off the sides of buildings. But the primary instruments were firearms and to them must be attributed that enormous number of dead bodies!
The only really big difference between our ethnic groups and their ethnic groups is ours are armed to the teeth and can defend themselves.
Not ethnicity by ethnicity. Russians in the US are far less murderous than Great Russians in Russia. But don’t count on the Kazakhs being less murderous than white Americans.
If you are about Russia they count most uncertain deaths and a vast majority of missing people as murders. As for actual murders about 80% are drunk domestic disputes. You are about 10 times more at risk of being murdered on a walk to groccery or at a gas station in good old USA than if you are in Russia. At the same time you are about 20 times less at risk to be killed for some minor reason by your wife or husband in United States. All of the above about actual murders is typical for all the Eastern Europe and Kazakhstan as well.
