The police were called to check up on the man. He refused to speak to them so they deployed a Tactical Response (SWAT?) Team.

Something smells. Government overreach.

I have a strong feeling we WON”T get the undeniable truth of this incident.

And many more in the near future.

Or,perhaps,an old guy with serious neuropsychiatric issues who found himself being "threatened" (in his diseased brain) by police.Old folks often have health issues, including brain issues.Check the dead guy's health profile before accusing the cops.

So... If the cops had left him alone he’d still be alive?

Does this sound “right” to anyone?

If so, i’d really like to hear your justification...

People keep making this same error time and time again.

Though sometimes police can do the “social worker” bit, that is not their primary job, which is to be armed enforcers of what the public as a whole wants, to help keep order. And to continue the pursuit of those who commit crime after the fact. And some limited emergency services that firemen do not do, or have not arrived yet.

But foolish people call the police because their child is being obstinate, or a retarded adult is being a problem again, or an elderly relative is being problematic, etc. And this results far too often in people, even children, being arrested and terrified, and adults and the elderly injured or killed.

It also gets family dogs shot, because police do not want to mess with dogs at all.

So when things like this happen to people, the finger of blame goes to them, first. They got more than they bargained for, or wanted, because they called the wrong people to deal with a minor problem.

Cops keep this up, and gov keeps covering for them, in the future the only place they can have a meal break is back at police barracks. Eat in a public diner, someone who lost their family to them will walk up and waste them at the diner booth, leave and no one in the diner saw anything. In such a civilian uprising cops cannot hide (they wear uniforms and drive marked cars) while the rebels wear civilian clothes. Not a pretty picture. This is how popular uprising occur. Read about it in Third World nation how people fed up will react. Because we have a high standard of living, possess iPods, Smart Phones and etc does not mean we are immune to abuse. Outlaw guns, rebels will use IED. Don’t think they are effective, after 10 years of IED the strongest military in the world wants to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Cops are nowhere’s tough as our military.

Is this the opening shot against nanny-state intruding?

I think we’ll see more of this sort of a reaction against the ‘authorities’ (what a Gestapo and KGB sounding term) sticking their noses into everyone’s business.

BTW, I hope his family members are pleased with the out come of their ‘intervention’.

Officer 1: Sir; we have an old man not responding!

Officer 2: Well, shoot him a few times and check again!

“A family member had asked police Wednesday to check on Tschohl, but he refused to speak with officers.”

Sounds like it was determined he was ok.

“On Thursday, family members again contacted police, saying Tschohl had *weapons* in his home.

“Something smells. Government overreach. “

Glad I’m not a cop. No matter what happens; they will always be accused of doing something wrong.
They have a lot of crap to deal with.

Just plain FED UP?
Just wanted to be left alone?
Had enough?

Maybe ‘Suicide by Cop’?

Wouldn’t be the first time.
