'You have got to fix yourself up - look pretty, look alert:' Christian conservative T.V. host Pat Robertson blames 'awful-looking' women for failed marriages
If your husband isn't paying attention to you, it's probably because you don't look 'pretty' and 'alert,' according to evangelical talk show host Pat Robertson.
At least that's what Robertson told his viewers recently, using an anecdote from a fellow preacher to illustrate his point.
'A woman came to a preacher I know — it’s so funny,' said Robertson, host of the 700 Club. 'She was awful-looking. Her hair was all torn up, she was overweight and looked terrible, clothes bad and everything, and she said, "Oh Reverend, what can I do? My husband has started to drink."

Amazing story! From all that all I can say is you did everything right, and as you say there must have been issues with your husband.

Too many women get married, then try to change the guy they married. They also seem to be willing to provide “special” favors when on the hunt and decide they no longer have to do such things once married. Guys tend to marry the woman they want to be with - women tend to consider the men they marry to be templates that can be molded after the fact. An almost universal sign that a woman is preparing to dump her husband is that she suddenly goes on a diet and start taking care of herself again.<p.Just observations through a bad marriage and gratitude that the second one was to a real woman who chose the man she wanted instead of a template...
Pat Robertson must be a Freeper. Everything is women’s fault, a man can look any way he wants and behave any way he wants and it’s okay.
To me a failed marriage is a marriage with no kids...
I'm a woman and don't think you're too far off. Women competing with men is a lose-lose situation. We are supposed to support each other in a complimentary way. I personally believe our feminine genius is so much more powerful than brute force, and even a brilliant education, and I have an MBA. Besides, whoever thought of the stupid idea that we have to bring home the bacon, and fry it up in a pan, should be shot. That is exhausting! #dumb
