Problem was she was hugging him while his pants were around his knees and she was kneeling. There is so much of this story yet untold.

Uhm, well, my Glock has had one in the chamber for decades, since I got it, and it hasn’t discharged yet (not accidentally or by itself).
Of course, I don’t get many hugs any more!

100% bogus. The woman was shot in some other way, not by hugging and the gun went off. 100% bogus.

Was he carrying a Nambu 94 Japanese pistolI have one of those. Handle carefully!! The Type 94 is definitely the most ugly and dangerous weapon I own!!
To: Lurker
Possible in the very unlikely event that the officer’s off-duty carry weapon was one of these and he was carrying it with a round in the chamber AND the safety off:

IIRC, there is also a model of the Beretta pistol (or a pistol with a Beretta-like design) that has a similar design flaw. Could be wrong.

Obviously a gun grabber. Was it Bloomberg or Giuliani hugging the cop?

That’s a good one! A wise instructor once said, ‘keep the booger hook off the bang button’ until you are ready. He happened to be an ex-cop.

This is an old article; didn't believe it then, and don't now.
My wife hugs & kisses me every day before I leave; no gunshot wounds. I NEVER leave the house without my gun. It is safely in my secure concealed holster. There is no way it can fire, because nothing can touch the trigger. I have dropped it on concrete in its holster, and it has not fired.
I call BS.

I have no experience with a Nambu_Type_94_pistol.
Before y’all say BS. ....
Is it possible that he was wearing one of those sideways holding shoulder holsters and she came from behind to hug him not knowing he was wearing a holster then started fidgeting with it, causing it to fire?

With a proper Glock holster, if that was what he had, you can't get to the trigger without hitting the release button and pulling the pistol out.
Something just wasn't right and proper.

If I remember the story, the holster was
modified for trigger access. The officer
was seated and there was a sex act being
performed by the woman.

An off duty Detroit cop with some odd ball Japanese pistol?
Bout as likely he’d be carrying a flint lock.

Glock?Or any revolver.
Nothing is idiot proof. That is why I like Glocks.
They don't make them for idiots. They make them for intelligent and responsible adults.
All others need not apply.

Once again, pure unadulterated bullshit. I have carried a Glock, a 1911, for years. It can’t happen from a hug. Sorry folks, it’s another damn lie.
