Conservative talkers Mark “the Hysteric” Levin and “fat ass” Michael Savage reignited their longtime feud this week, even though the two share distributors and no longer air during the same time slot.
On Monday, Levin made an appearance on the Fox News Channel and called President Barack Obama “the imperial president,” leading Savage to label Levin “the Hysteric” on his show later that evening.
Savage said Levin lazily and uncritically stole the phrase “imperial president” from liberals of the 1970s.
“The ‘imperial presidency’ was a line used by liberals to describe Nixon,” Savage bellowed. “And yet, the ‘Hysteric’ applies it to Obama, as though he invented it. The correct phrase, ladies and gentlemen of the Savage Nation, to describe Obama is ‘government anarchy.’”
Early in his Tuesday show, Levin responded by alleging Savage possesses a”fat ass” and threatening to devote an hour of his show to railing on the “moron,” whose real name is Michael Weiner.
“You nitwit,” Levin said. “['The Imperial Presidency' is] a book by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., which many of us read while you were running around with Allen Ginsberg in Fiji and skinnydipping, or whatever the hell you used to do. Some of us normal people, you know, were reading and writing and doing arithmetic and behaving ourselves. Maybe I’ll do a whole hour on that, moron. Maybe I’ll do a special — a documentary. What do you think of that, Mr. Producer? Little ‘Weiner Nation’: The Manchurian Conservative.”
“It’ll be monotonous,” Levin continued. “The ratings will plummet. But we can do it for an hour. There’s a reason why he follows my show — because I kicked his ass all over the country. Oh, he’ll lie and pretend he didn’t, but I kicked his ass all over the country — and that’s one big fat ass, by the way. Got that, Weiner? I’d love to meet this guy one day just to say hello, all 5 feet 2 inches of him, with that snaggle-tooth — little ‘Weiner Nation.’ But with that I digress, and I mean I really digress.”
In 2011, the rivalry between the two radio hosts took one of its uglier turns, when Savage offered former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich $1 million to resign from the 2012 presidential race, and Levin countered by offering Savage $100,000 to drop his radio show.
After a brief hiatus from the airwaves last fall, Savage left Talk Radio Network and was picked up by Cumulus, the same company that distributes Levin’s show, and took on the time slot following Levin’s, from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. EST.
I should have added that Savage seems to be engaged in self immolation.
I think he is burned out out with radio and his program.
I stopped listening to Savage when he gave Jerry “Governor Moonbeam” Brown the maximum-allowable political contribution in 2006. I have been informed that Savage has since broken with Brown, but why would any self-descried conservative ever support him in the first place?
This back-and-forth has been going on since Levin joined the national broadcast stage.
I am wondering whether Cumulus is pushing them to do this to improve ratings.
It is, by both talkers, petty and diminutive. There are more important issue that both could be discussing.
The Venus cite comes from the opinion of Marshall, who concurs in part with the majority. While it’s interesting that Vattel is cited by the court, as a source, despite being a foreigner, the court does not consider the phrase “natural born citizen” in this ruling. Absolutely damning to your case is that Vattel’s “naturels,” the word which so many who cite him lately translate as “natural-born citizens” is, instead, translated as “native.”
The Minor demonstrates the lack of Supreme Court precedent; it cites the controversy as to what “Natural-born” means, but does not resolve it.
The Dred Scott case, of course, is the most infamous case in SCOTUS history; It doesn’t make your case, but a far more horrible case: that only children of citizens may become citizens at all! Therefore, even their children would not be citizens, no matter how generations passed. This was no mere slip: it was used to argue that slaves were not citizens. But it would also mean that anyone descended from immigrants would not be citizens, contrary to Vattel, natural law, and just about any standard of decency.
Shanks does not address the issue.
Perkins and Ark assert that those born on American soil of American citizens are natural-born citizens, but do not say that those born on American soil of those who are not American citizens are not natural-born citizens.
Left alone, however, the ambiguity of Perkins and Ark might leave someone to guess that one had to have citizen parents to be NBC, and therefore one might defer to Vattel’s logic. But Ark cited Lynch v Clark as its source, which referred to the children born on US soil who were NOT US Citizens.
I’ll grant that there is an uncomfortable ambiguity in NBC, but to call Levin an idiot because you disagree with him is just, well, idiotic.

Savage/Wiener (Wiener/Savage?) can be entertaining and informative and has contributed to the national narrative, but at this point, he's a low average hitter, a parachute flare slowly fading and falling.
You might tune in to an interesting show, but more likely you'll be listening to self centered personality disorder talking about making meatballs.

To be fair, Savage/Wiener does a lot of shooting at those he considers to be his competition in radio land and is then incredulous when they don't come to his defense, like with his being banned from GB.
He is his own worst enemy.
I heard him refer to Hannity as “the wallbanger”, whatever that means. Isn’t that a drink? Harvey Wallbanger? Does SH drink too much? LOL.

Yea, a harvey wallbanger was a drink. As far as I know, Sean doesn’t drink.
I think Weiner was just trying to put others down to build himself up.
That was my major gripe against him.

He’s also referred to Hannity as “the leprechaun”.
Wallbanger is a reference to Hannity’s working in construction before his radio career.
Savage is pretty close to being the liberal characature of a Conservative Talk Show host.
I forget what he called Hannity.

As if having a Blue collar job (Hannity used to install Sheetrock way back when) was such a horrible thing for the elite Weiner Nation.
