Can you raise a family on what a stocker earns? Can you raise a family on what two stockers earn?

Not in my neck of the woods. A stocker is honest work, heck I was one when I was in high school. I would hope that most people set their sights just a little higher if they have training and experience from the military.

Of course if you are retired and earning a pension then the extra money from being a stocker may be all you need.

I agree with you. However, there aren't that many jobs for these men and women which are suitable to their skills and experience. When you have people depending in you, sometimes you have to take what's available.

Another thing, if you just hang around for weeks and months not doing anything because the jobs available aren't to your liking, it looks bad on your resume. Employers want a go-getter. Waiting for the right job for long periods gives the impression you're lazy. At that point, the employer might disregard your military experience and just look at what you've done lately.

Personally, it just seems smart to take any job until a more suitable one comes along.

Walmart is not talking about just stocker jobs. They are looking to place people in jobs they can do from stocker to entry level admin and management.
