Walking past Grand Central in the dark can be scary — I walked across one of the ventilation grates and my focus was drawn to the lighted railroad tracks that must have been a hundred feet down. Almost needed a change. I religiously avoid grates now.

"At what point does heavyset become obese? I once a few years ago had a book that had all the physical stats for NFL football teams.
Going by the Government Charts every linebacker in the NFL at the time was considered Overweight or Obese.
By Government standards the man pictured below would be considered overweight and bordering on obese.

I’m certain the sidewalk was built to withstand weights of 300lb+. Have you heard of something called repeated or recurrent stress fractures? That’s what happened. The woman stood on that poor sidewalk every day for who knows how many years, and experts inform us that she has recently been on diet, meaning in the past she weighed as much as twice the 300lb figure. Repeated stress fracture syndrome, that’s what it was.

I still do. It’s an infrastructure problem, and it’s only partly related to her being so heavy. I’d hear about something like this happening every so often, so just chose to avoid risks where not completely necessary. But things like this will worsen, especially in places like New York, before they get better, because when we’re spending public money supporting those who can’t or won’t support themselves, we’re not spending it on supporting the infrastructure: bridges, sidewalks, roads, et cetera, let alone improving it.

300lbs plus supported by 2,lets say spiked heels displaces much more pressure then say a 240lb adult and a 40lb child hand in hand or even a hot dog cart I must have missed the part in the article where it describes her as wearing spiked heels.
You are wrong on this point. There are major structural faults at work in order for a publicly accessible walking surface to not be able to handle a 300 or even a 400 pound human of either gender wearing any kind of shoes. Yes it's a funny story, and normally I let comments go that I disagree with. I don't know why, but I just had to jump in on this one.

Be great if the same thing happened to Washington DC and every politician in it. Chris Christie, pick up the wide courtesy phone...

Great, now you’ve done it.
Now my fascination with beautiful Women wearing Stiletto Heels is so over...
Time for a new Fetish. Something like a beautiful Woman with the Constitution in one hand and an AR-15 in the other.
