Some seedlings up and roaring already...broccoli and Purple of Sicily cauliflower looking good, my Iditarod Red dwarf tomatoes are cranking, hot peppers like regular Bhut Jolokia and the ‘Peach’ variety are up, along with both Trinidad Scorpion and the TS Moruga strain. Yellow Devil’s Tongue also up, but still waiting on another Naga Morich...first one had ‘helmet head’, and I couldn’t save it. I was testing my saved tomato seed, and I got 100% germination...now I have these beautiful 8-10 inch plants in the middle of January in Red Hampshire. Swell.
Sounds like a good start. Do you know what peppers are used for regular chili powder? Just spicy, not hot?
I finally got some tomatoes and peppers started indoors. They should have been started at Christmas but the moon wasn’t right. Now we’ll see how long before the cat knockes them over. I couldn’t find the jalapeno seeds I wanted so am trying some grocery store jalapenoes that I saved some seeds from - one some unknown jalepeno and a Hatch. Hey, nothing lost and can’t be worse than the RIDICULOUSLY HOT ones I’ve planted the past two years. I have some air drying and used one (no seeds) in a crockpot of chili this week and it made it plenty spicy hot.
Finally baked up and put up the last of the tomatoes harvested at the first freeze.
We’ve had a couple weeks of freezing nights but the lettuce is still popping up here and there. Yeehaw, we had RAIN yesterday! Today was so nice I threw open the windows and the dogs were happy snoozing in the sunshine but it’s supposed to turn cold again tomorrow.
