A person familiar with the situation says Robert Griffin III will have surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his right knee.
The person said Griffin has a torn lateral collateral ligament and that the surgery will also determine whether he also has damaged the ACL.

Thank you. End of discussion. Idiots with straw man gibberish to share are invited to go register their opinions to the ignorant teenyboppers on ESPN.
Stupid fracking Coach Shanahan should be fired!
The media gushed over him because he is a great football player. And I never saw a comparison to Donovan McNabb.
Black quarterbacks aren’t a novelty anymore, and the media doesn’t hype them any more than it hypes white quarterbacks.
Why do so many former NFL players and coaches disagree with you?
Unhappy triad includes the medial collateral ligament not the lateral. But after watching the injury in slo mo it appeared he did blow out the medial collateral and not the lateral.

For what, getting the Redskins to the NFL playoffs this year?
I would think that the brace on his leg was a hint that RGIII shouldn’t have been in that game.
I have nothing against Griffin. But after the game, and ever since then, ALL the talk has been about THIS (the Griffin injury), and almost NONE about the team that WON THE GAME, i.e., Seattle.
You obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. You may want to do some research before you start implying racism. I am not even going to point you in the right direction because I doubt you'd look it up. Btw, it is not uncommon for libs to scream racism where none exists.

I never saw a McNabb comparison either, but the media is acting just like they did with McNabb (think Limbaugh getting fired from MNF) I agree that RG III had a great rookie season and obviously a phenomenal last year in college. I am tired of the media over coverage of him. Personally, I'd take Wilson over Griffin or Luck.
If that were a determining factor for who should or should not play there would be dozens of players in the NFL held out every week.
I had a patient come in yesterday who had an injury to his MCL and I mentioned that to him. Although in his case I thought it was bruised, not torn.
Either way, still "unhappy" and will require surgery. Hope RG III comes back.
It looked like it was placed around the calf, not the knee.
All three are great stories. They are smart, they are leaders and they have made the players around them better. I hope they all have long, productive, successful careers. Just not longer, more productive and successful than Aaron Rogers. ;)
We’ll see this Sunday!
What I worry about is every time I see Wilson decide to run... so far, he hasn’t been hit hard.
But one of these days, some defensive line guy is liable to make a turkey wishbone outa him!
It’s gonna be a tough game, and I think Seattle might lose. But if the defense is strong, it could be a blow out, Seattle’s scored something like 170 points in their last four games!
The Redskins paid a kings ransom for the guy, and he turned out to be the real deal. He took a crappy team to the playoffs, and proved to be one of the most exciting players on the field. What over coverage? There was more coverage of the JETS backup QB this year than there was of RG3.
Why do you keep comparing him to McNabb? Because he’s black? How has the media acted like they did with McNabb? And what does Limbaugh have to do with any of this?
Only the doctors and those who would need to would know for sure.
