Subaru is recalling nearly 634,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. because lights beneath the doors can overheat and cause fires.
The recall affects all Outback and Legacy cars from model years 2010 and 2011.

Seems to be a lot of subaru haters here. they’re reliable, safe and great in the snow. Did a lot of research for my mom when she was looking for a new vehicle and ended up with an outback. 4 trips MI-TX and 2 MI-FL, she still loves it and hasn’t had a single problem.
“Call me a lunatic, but Subbies are better then anything I’ve ever driven in the snow...including my 4WD Ford pickup.”
Thank you. I recently purchased an Outback for my upcoming move to Montana. I love it! I am a conservative married mother of two and a grandmother who has never worn a pair of Birkenstocks!
Subarus are indeed great cars in tougher climates, and get more mpg and have greater reliability than almost any of their AWD or 4WD competitors. The sedans are barely identifiable as Subies.
From the link in #18:
“...Saab deserves special mention as the brand most over-represented among gay and lesbian buyers...
“...The brand preferences diverge after Saab. For lesbians, the number two brand in terms of over-representation is Scion, followed by Jeep, Subaru and Saturn. For men, it’s Audi, then Mini, VW and Jaguar...”
Never broke down, never got stuck in snow and great in the rain. Perfect for New England winters, just faithfully change the oil.
As crap.. And I drive an Audi.
No sweeping generalizations here! I have heard that is true, but I guess I'll be the exception to your generalization.
I am the only remaining conservative in two of the three families that still claim me and I just bought an Outback, the only family member to do so...and I LOVE it!
It is a very well thought out, spacious and capable vehicle and was the one best suited to my needs than anything any other company makes for the price. And it gets 30 mpg, about a third or more better the van I traded for it would do.
I'll probably be driving it in the freezing rain, ice and snow instead of my 4WD Tacoma. It's impressive, especially as a family car/dog hauler. Maybe I'm having a change of life moment, but I really like my new Lesbaru! No buyer's regret whatsoever.
The current 4th generation Outback has 8.5" ground clearance stock from the factory. Not bad.
They are arguably great vehicles but because they are identified with liberals I must walk away, sorry Subaru, you make a good product but its tainted by morons, I do not want to be even remotely painted as a liberal, democrat, gay supporter or all of the above.
Our reasons are slightly different, but I quit buying cars and trucks from two companies based on some of the associations made with the companies now.
excellent. do they make one that will pull a 16ft speedboat?
Depends on the boat and trailer.
6 cyl. Outbacks and Tribecas with transmission coolers will tow 3,000 lbs, Foresters well over 2000 lbs.
One of that guy's needs was to pull 3,000 lb (high side estimate) of boat, trailer and gear and the thread went 6 pages. Personally, I wouldn't push the weight limit, but that's just me. Some had high praise for its AWD, especially on slick boat ramps.
I was leaning toward the Escape and, honestly, the OB wasn't on my radar in any way until a neighbor showed me his. The more I saw, the more I liked.
thanks.
I thing my boat’s around 2500...have to check the specs.
...because lights beneath the doors can overheat and cause fires.IOW, the car, unlike the heads of the drivers, will sometimes have a light in it.
