The more I think about the last few days, the more I question whether the African communist actually won anything.
I mean, whats different now from two weeks ago? Answer: The Bush tax rates are now permanent for 98% of American earners. It would be nice if it was 100%, but geez... The top 2% merely go back to where they were 10 years ago. (The real mistake occurred 10 years ago when the Republicans failed to insist that the rates be made permanent at that time.)
As far as spending cuts go, the debt ceiling debate can be used to force that issue and if all else fails, the painful sequestration cuts will happen automatically in two months (yesterdays vote merely put them off for two months), while the Bush tax rates are STILL permanent for 98% of American earners.
(shrug)
I just cant make myself gnash my teeth about all this the way some around here seem to be doing. To me it looks like Ubanga threw the Republicans into the briar patch.
He won the hearts and soles of the weak, addled, greedy, lazy, ignorant, self centered, self serving bums - and so on.............
People think that somehow because the top 2% are getting it now that us in the lower 98% don't have to worry. They better think again, because they are aiming for all of us.
Every single time people think only the rich got soaked, they will find themselves getting soaked even worse, think the Alternative Minimum Tax.
Just like in 1938, Hitler only got the Sudetenland, and of course within the year, he wound up getting all of Czechoslovakia. And for sure, Obama will eventually come for the rest.
If it Wasn’t for the bad strategy, the Republican’s would have had no strategy at all ...
You’re dreaming. As the debt ceiling matter ramps-up, the Rancid Media will equate Boehner with a cannibalistic child- molester. Boehner will cry, wet his pants, and let Obama have whatever he wants. Sometimes I wish that congressmen caning one another on the floor and shooting one another in duels was a better system.
All I'm saying is, let's see what happens next. All that happened yesterday was a "stop gap" measure - -a delaying tactic for both sides (except for 98% of the Bush tax cuts being made PERMANENT). It was merely a charade, bukkake theater. If the Republicns end up caving in the next round, then I will happily supply the rope. And a winch. And tie the nooses.
No. I am self-employed (as a corporation). That is, I AM a "small business".
What one congress passes, another can undo. Your PERMANENT is a fleeting wisp of a thing.

seriously? He won both actually and politically. Not only tax hikes and no revenue, but he beat the GOP politically. You think for ONE second that the GOP is going to win ANY future political fights?
This is the long con, not just this one battle.
Tax Cuts are never permanent. They will raise taxes a la “three card monte”.
Well, if you’re cool with the tax rate going up, that’s good enough for me. Do you think others should be forced to feel the same way you do? And the folks who work for them?
That's just from family members that are having to adjust to the current reality. Family will do ok, for various values of ok, but we won't starve.
Question, what would the situation for those 5 folks be now if no deal had been reached? If tax rates had gone (and stayed) up for everyone, would their situation be different (ie better)?
Guess what. The situation is resolved. Uncertainty is cleared up. The GOP caved. Again. I know... go figure.
Want a penny? You'll need a crowbar to pry it out of my...

I hear ya, my pennies are now being pinched just a little tighter.
Now, instead of the democrats having to be worried about reelection if they support anti-second amendment legislation, they can rest assured that the republicans are in greater danger of losing the house and losing more ground in the senate because they went back on their word regarding taxes.
Remember G.H.W. Bush?
