The more I think about the last few days, the more I question whether the African communist actually won anything.
I mean, whats different now from two weeks ago? Answer: The Bush tax rates are now permanent for 98% of American earners. It would be nice if it was 100%, but geez... The top 2% merely go back to where they were 10 years ago. (The real mistake occurred 10 years ago when the Republicans failed to insist that the rates be made permanent at that time.)
As far as spending cuts go, the debt ceiling debate can be used to force that issue and if all else fails, the painful sequestration cuts will happen automatically in two months (yesterdays vote merely put them off for two months), while the Bush tax rates are STILL permanent for 98% of American earners.
(shrug)
I just cant make myself gnash my teeth about all this the way some around here seem to be doing. To me it looks like Ubanga threw the Republicans into the briar patch.
The game.
Answer: The power and will to commence looting!
Another free trip to Hawaii and the belief that he is the awesomest dude ever.
For the most part I tend to agree with you. I fail to see what ‘big’ win Obama secured by having the Bush tax cuts made permanent for 98%+...
You keep on supporting the GOP. Cheerleading for them...
I'm done with 'em.

Do you work for a small business?
Good question. I am not sure what he won. You are right about the debt ceiling. This is the one where the GOP holds the cards. However, the GOPe needs the Tea Party and the Tea Party needs the GOPe. St George did not defeat the Dragon by fighting St Andrew.
The spelunkers are now part of the deal that added another $3 Trillion in debt obligations. The house approved it.
Going over the cliff would have reduced the debt obligations. It would have raised taxes on everybody too. But that is comming one way or another.
Our elected spelunkers need force spending CUTS, REAL CUTS. Not just lowering budget growths, they need to push for cuts to existing budgets like the EPA, FDA, FCC, PBS, SS, Medicaire, Medicaid, Welfare, Unemployment, Etc.
The president gets to raise taxes and more debt. The raised taxes will not actually increase tax revenue to the Fed. It will have businesses and proprietors shuffling the chairs on the ship deck again. That’s all.
Given that the rats own the White House and the Senate, I think the Republicans did okay. ...For now. It will be interesting to see what the “debt ceiling” negotiations yield as far as “cuts” go. In any event, I see nothing but upside for the Republicans from this point forward, IF they have the balls to be bold and call the African communist’s bluff. The main thing is DONE - - the Bush tax rates are now permanent for 98% of American earners. (Plus, I believe the Republicans even got some other tax break concessions out of the deal.)
The next Number One on the agenda has to be the defunding of Mengelecare.
Well, some of those “Republicans” who fought making them permanent 10 years ago (like McCain and Graham) are now (and two years ago) whining about letting them increase.
The Republicans know why they got nothing out of this: The expiration of the tax rates meant they could only contain their losses here. But what about the Democrats? Now they have gotten their tax increase, and what has it gained them but the prospect of an even slower economy? Whats their game plan?
Question: “So... tell me again, what did Obama win?”
Answer: The power and will to commence looting!
::::::::::::::::::
Yes. As well as again showing the Repubs for what they are. Weak cowards who will not fight for what is right for Americans and our country. No fight for spending reduction. No fight to STOP OBAMA’S DESTRUCTIVE TAXATION to support the socialist takeover of America, directly and by so-called Obamacare.
Obama won his class warfare canard along with 1 year more of unemployment benefits to grow the welfare class while not creating jobs. I’d say he won big!

Are you a joke?
No, I didn't vote for Mittens, and I vote ONLY for conservatives.
By no stretch am I "a cheerleader for the GOP".
All that is irrelevant to the deal struck during the past couple of weeks, which is what I am addressing. All the crying and whining and woe-is-me around here makes me sick. The work isn't done yet, not by a long shot. But what IS done is a major win for the Republicans, IMO.
Let's see what happens next before you hang yourself in the basement.
He won Period. Taxes stay low on the lower classes so ‘the rich’ continue to foot the bill for all their stuff. 50% of the country is voting themselves free stuff and it just got worse. Barring complete collapse, we are one step closer to Europe. We also have further proof that the left has control of the messaging and our side continues to be incompetent at winning a public debate. Some of it is environment, but most of it is bad strategy and messaging. That is more upsetting than a change in tax rates.
More taxes, more spending... and no cuts to speak of.
