Ah Yorkie, what a wonderful ‘blessing’, and the picture is almost too beautiful to be real. Happy day to you!

MAY THE BLESSINGS OF OUR LORD DESCEND UPON YOU AND REMAIN WITH YOU FOREVER

St. Patrick Window,
St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church,
Laurel, Maryland

ST. PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness
Of the Creator of Creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with His Baptism,
Through the strength of His Crucifixion with His Burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His Ascension,
Through the strength of His Descent for the Judgment of Doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of Cherubim,
In obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In prayers of patriarchs,
In predictions of prophets,
In preaching of apostles,
In faith of confessors,
In innocence of holy virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.

I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptations of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone and in multitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel merciless power that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul.

Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness,
Of the Creator of Creation.

Laughing about the ‘fur ball’ comment! I am a ‘dog’ person and only had a cat in the house the year my son worked on Johnston’s Atoll in the Pacific. I kept his Calico cat for him and she was sweet.

Thank you for thinking of me Yorkie, it has been much harder even than losing my Mother. I’m doing as well as I can.

Don’t let that puppy get away from you again, you hear!! LOL

WE THE PEOPLE
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. "

Our Founding Fathers secured this essential freedom against overwhelming odds through great adversity, securing it first with the blood of our Patriots shed in the War of the Revolution, then through the course of intense and extended debate, leading finally to the adoption of the Bill of Rights.

This cherished Freedom is under attack now, not only by the media, not only by academia, but by the Executive Branch of the United States Government itself. The President and Department of Justice have abdicated their sworn duty to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. They have instead, with full knowledge of the enormity of their acts, systematically betrayed the American People in repeated transgressions and usurpations, thereby assuming the role of principal domestic enemy in what will be the defining Constitutional struggle of our times.

We are called at this crucial moment to bear Witness to the Truth of God, to uphold and to defend this vital, First Freedom and the Freedoms that derive from it. Without Freedom of Conscience, what substantive Freedom could we continue to enjoy?

Thats a great one, M.L.! My sister in law doesn’t use the computer (hard to believe) if she did I’d send her this!

She even bought a new computer and never got anyone to help her learn. That was when she was still living here. I begged her to let me come down and show her some basics and she never was in the mood for it. Its hard to believe that you would buy a computer and it would just sit there forever! She did have some strange ways if I must say so!

The Good Old Days

January 28, 2013

Sometimes our minds run back through the years and yearn for that better time and place—the “good old days.”

But for some, the past harbors only bitter memories. Deep in the night, they ponder their own failures, disillusionments, and fantasies, and think of the cruel hand life has dealt them.

It’s better to remember the past as David did, by contemplating the good that God has done, to “meditate on all [His] works; . . . muse on the work of [His] hands” (Ps. 143:5). As we call to mind the lovingkindness of the Lord, we can see His blessings through the years. These are the memories that foster the highest good. They evoke a deep longing for more of God and more of His tender care. They transform the past into a place of familiarity and fellowship with our Lord.

I heard a story about an elderly woman who would sit in silence for hours in her rocking chair, hands folded in her lap, eyes gazing off into the far distance. One day her daughter asked, “Mother, what do you think about when you sit there so quietly?” Her mother replied softly with a twinkle in her eye, “That’s just between Jesus and me.”

I pray that our memories and meditations would draw us into His presence.

I have promised you My presence
With you everywhere you go;
I will never, never leave you
As you travel here below. —Rose
Fellowship with Christ is the secret
