abstemious;adj.
1. sparing or moderate in eating and drinking; temperate in diet. 2. characterized by abstinence: an abstemious life. 3. sparing
Etymology: 1615–25; < Latin abstēmius, equivalent to abs- abs- + tēm- (base of tēmētum intoxicating drink) + -ius -ious
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

A+++ can’t turn on the news. came into the ofc for a little bit today to survey the carnage that would otherwise await me on weds.
I heard a quote yesterday, that we tend to be abstemious between Christmas and New Year’s Day when we should really be paying more attention between New Year’s Day and Christmas.
i bought some proseco for midnight, but it is questionable that i will stay awake til then!
You should have bought amateur-seco. It's made for the abstemious.
abstemious: reducing the size of your waistline by sitting in a steam bath. (Not to be confused with “saunacation,” which is something completely different.)

I do NOT plan on being abstemious. If God wanted us to be thin, he wouldn’t have given us chocolate and sugar. Hmmmmm. Maybe Eve was not tempted by an apple — maybe it was chocolate. Happy New Year, All.
