Hello All,
I'm asking for a bit trying to track down something I seem to recall from 2007.
In California, the EPA shut down a waterway, it claims, to protect a species of either bird or fish. The shutdown of the waterway killed many regional farms.
Flashforward to the Obamacare vote - We were all watching with baited breath as one after the other, opposition fell. We saw opposition to the bill fall from bribes, threats, and promises to exclude. But I also recall that the water was turned back on (Mysteriously?) in return for a yes vote.
I'm looking desperately for this. Can anyone help me out in this search ?
Thanks, and have a Merry Christmas !

It was a fish, or bait (smelt) to be exact.
I was just down the 5 last month, did not notice any activity just death.
The strategy was to deny water to the southern San Joaquin River Valley agriculture, much of which was orchards, to the point that the trees died and made the farms worthless and unable to pay their taxes. Private property confiscation.
It pretty much worked completely, so a vote for water would be pointless, the horse was already dead.
Anyway California Rat supermajority federal legislators always would vote for Obamacare anyway, the water vote was just giving cover to shills. California voters are stupid beyond belief.
Well it is about fish after all.
Search Victor David Hanson (Hansen?) articles. He lives in the area and has written on it extensively.

You may be thinking of the Klamath River.
Rep. Devin Nunez (Cal). He’s the leader in the fight for more water.
A lot of strong feelings about this in a region that lacks political clout.
Buying Votes with Water

snip
On Tuesday, the Department of the Interior announced it was increasing water allocations for the Central Valley of California, a region that depends on these water allocations for local agriculture and jobs. The timing adds to our suspicions.
According to the Interior announcement, “Typically (the Bureau of) Reclamation would release the March allocation update around March 22nd, but moved up the announcement at the urging of Senators (Diane) Feinstein and (Barbara) Boxer, and Congressmen (Jim) Costa and (Dennis) Cardoza.”
Blue Dog Democrats Costa, who represents California’s 20th Congressional District (Fresno), and Cardoza, who represents the 18th (Stockton to Modesto), are both listed as “undecided” in the upcoming vote on health care reform, whether it be on the Senate bill itself or the “deem and pass” resolution known as the Slaughter rule, after Rules Committee Chairman Louise Slaughter.
The rule subverts the Constitution by allowing the bill to pass without members actually having to vote on it. Interior’s announcement gives Costa and Cardoza something to assuage the wrath of angry constituents just in time for any vote.
