FAIRBANKS A wolf attacked a Tok trapper on his snowmachine last week about 30 miles off the Taylor Highway, biting through the mans parka and three layers of clothing to put a 3-inch gash on his arm.
Lance Grangaard, 30, said he was putting along on his Ski-Doo Tundra on Thursday afternoon, coming down a frozen creek, when he saw the wolf out of the corner of his eye.
I turned in time to stick my arm up, said Grangaard, who was trapping with his father, Danny, in a remote area off the Taylor Highway known as Ketchumstuk. A single black wolf grabbed my arm and started jerking on me.
...
Said the elder Grangaard, You could tell he was really distraught. He had tears in his eyes. He thought the wolf was still chasing him.

How the wolf got on that snow machine, we’ll never know.
Wonder what they were “trapping”? Wolves?
have you seen the movie, The Grey? Depressing crap.
Mistake #1...riding a Ski-Doo.

Her soft tissues were ripped out and consumed while she was still alive.

did we need to know that?
Yeah it happens, not as often as Moose attacks but it happens.
Last time I was attacked by a wild animal it was a Skunk (I shot it with a Sling Shot and thought it would “Run Away”) heh I was the one running... and that little bugger was trying to get in the door of my Office while he stunk up the place. Then I remembered they are in the Weasel family, (like Wolverines and Badgers) and then I went “ahhh, maybe I shouldn’t have done that”

(I actually posted minute by minute, real time updates, while it was happening)
“did we need to know that?”
Yes, perhaps you’ll be outraged enough to join the fight against releasing any more of these predators.
shot guns work better
just sayin
It's good to have stories to tell.
Earning them..... That's not always so much fun at the time.
An adventure is someone you don't know having a very bad day a long, long way away.

“have you seen the movie, The Grey?”
Horrible movie.
***** “Wonder what they were trapping? Wolves?” ******
Naw ... A Trapline is for Fur-bearing animals. There is no money in Wolf Pelts, most likely Beaver, Mink and Muskrat...
They did however mention a Wolf Trapper in the article, most Varmint Trappers trap for Hire or Bounty or Fun and yeah they can sell the pelt but that is normally just a bonus, they are a GENUINE PAIN to Skin.

What was the grizzly bear attack movie, with the plane crash? The Edge, I think?
It's been bitterly cold -50+F and little snow for this time of year so it is pretty slim pickings food wise for the larger predators.
No connection to reality just pure Hollywood crap.Much like Jaws.
The alpha male is the male parent and usually the kids leave after 3 yrs to form their own family. They don’t hunt humans unless scared by humans and then in defense .
Incest and homosexuality in wolves has only been recorded in zoos not in nature.
***** “shot guns work better” *****
But alas... I live in Town and the report of that shotgun blast would have caused me more trouble than the Skunk.
(I lost 27 Ducks and 18 Chickens, but again I live in town and the fowl weren’t exactly legal either... now I have to mow the lawn and buy eggs)

Now I have a single shot 22 that shoots subs, but no Chickens or Ducks... Spring is just around the corner.

Yeah but is fun for Humans... I ordered some Sailor Boy Pilot Bread from a Co in Anchorage Alaska and asked them what the temp was there “10 Below” was her response while on my end the Ice Cream Truck was passing by and it was 80 deg here (she put it on Speaker so the rest of the Office could hear the Ice Cream truck) then I told her we had to “Pay for Cold Stuff” here.
Good yucks all around

Critters like martens, wolverines, and weasels can also have high value.
