Cue up your most mournful Death Cab for Cutie mix, because the adorkable marriage between Zooey Deschanel and indie rocker Ben Gibbard is officially kaput. People mag reports their divorce was finalized on Dec. 12, a little more than a year after they split.

Say what you will about her politics or religion, I have no idea what they are anyway. But to her everlasting credit, in my eyes, at least, she sang the National Anthem at several balls games, most recently at the World Series, and she sang it straight. I am so tired of so-called talent mangling The Star Spangled Banner, that it is refreshing to hear someone with a good voice show enough respect to sing it properly.
