The ONLY way that TOTAL gun control works is if you can confiscate ALL of the guns [doable] AND prevent future smuggling of guns. UNFORTUNATELY, there is NO WAY that you can prevent the smuggling of guns.

So, even with gun control, criminals and crazies are going to have them. And, from time to time, unarmed law-abiding people are going to get killed.

Therefore, the point is moot ...

The ONLY way to MINIMIZE the damage is to have ARMED security in place at all times. It WILL NOT prevent periodic killings, but it WILL discourage gun toters MOST of the time.

And, when someone does start shooting, there is security there to return fire. And, HOPEFULLY, take the shooter out quickly ...

I hope that statement was just a theoretical one. Criminals and thugs don't purchase their firearms with a permit. Hence the government has no idea who has what. Confiscation of guns would remove them from law abiding citizens only. Also, there are many people I know of who have guns that have been passed down from generation to generation that are not in a goverment database.

Lol, add wood, iron, steel, powder meal, charcoal, and potassium/sodium nitrate (Other ways to make gunpowder too) to your list of banned items. All can be crafted; Best to know some people who can craft guns or learn and train your self.
