Schieffer: NRA the lobby most feared by Congress
CBSthis morning ^

Posted on 12/15/2012 2:16:15 PM PST by RC one

"We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics," Mr. Obama said.

CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer has been following the gun control debate since the assassination of President Kennedy. He said he takes the president at his word, but he's very skeptical about what will be possible, given the power of the most prominent gun lobbying group, the National Rifle Association.

"This is going to be a very, very difficult thing to do," he said. "Congress is literally afraid to take on the National Rifle Association because they know that if they make any kind of statement [that] even suggests some sort of limits on gun control, the NRA is going to pour, literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars in a campaign to defeat them."

Schieffer, who also hosts "Face the Nation," said Republicans and Democrats are so reluctant to talk about the issue that he's had trouble booking them on his Sunday morning news show.

"We talk about the lobby in Washington, AARP, which represents [people] on Social Security, as a very powerful lobby; you have the various energy lobbies; you've seen all kind of lobbies spring up not to raise taxes.

"I think the National Rifle Association is more feared than any of those associations," Schieffer said.

100 % of the members of the NRA are armed and will never concede to the liberal gun control jackass in Washington. The were allowed some gun restrictions but the limit has been reached. Want something to fear, better think about millions of guns in the hands of good Constitutional abiding Americans.

Union lobby? There ain't no such thing!

Everyone knows that the unions are the salvation of America. They have been saving people from having to achieve on their own, saving people from learning what they can do on their own, saving people from earning on the basis of their merit instead of the time they spent working at a company.

The NRA, what do they offer: they teach weapon safety, skill and responsibility; they protect the rights of the people under the Second Amendment; they provide the security of the group for individual elected officials who would otherwise cave under the pressure of the loudest lobby in Congress, the Anti-gun lobby!

Unfortunately the difficulty will fall on all of us not just him and the trouble with that ‘if’ is that it’s an if. A number of states are happily going along with 0bamaCare even though any half-decent comptroller would have to report to the gov and legislature that it will utterly destroy the state.

And the GOP could do that... by raising taxes on Hollywood. Eliminating favorable expense and profit-hiding loopholes in the tax code.

The GOP, if they wanted, could put quite a bit of Hollywood out of business or make it much less profitable than it is today. Much less profit means much less disposable income which can be gifted to liberals and liberal groups.

But the GOP continues to hew to this stupid “no new taxes” pledge, foreswearing the political power that comes with the tax code.

Grover Norquist needs to be disposed of. He’s a at best a nuisance, at worst a salafist quisling.

The congress critters got fired last time they banned guns. It will happen again. The only way it will get enacted this time is Decree from the Dictator suspending the 2A and R2KBA. Otherwise no change.

Expect a Presidential Order before Friday this week suspending the second amendment.

I don’t think he would even go that far. I suspect they’ll use the media to work people up into an anti-NRA/firearms frenzy and move for another AWB which will of course include all kinds of other restrictions on firearms. we need to let our congress critters know that we have their backs when the fight starts. I already wrote mine and I just reupped my membership to the NRA for a measly $35.00. We’re gonna have to fight here. Time to get in the mud again.

Every time that you have said these words, “Mr. President”:
“We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,” it has always been found to be that YOU want to POUND into OUR heads what YOU want, and that what MATTERS TO US means NOTHING!

Go find your long-lost Chicago bathhouse boyfriend, instead!

You cannot dictate to every American, that YOU want US to give up OUR U.N. recognized right of self-preservation.

YOU have a full-time legion of bodyguards, that every American has paid for, in our taxes, for life. We have ourselves, to acquire, learn the manual of arms, know the limitations of our own selves, and that defensive firearm, all on our own dwindling household budget, thanks to you.

No, “Mr. President”, I shall not grant you an audience, an ear to hear, or an eyeball to see what you seek.

Lastly, in your snarkish, boy-king narcissistic means, should you believe that you are in The Oval Office by right of divinity, and that America is your’s to rule as you wish, then, I leave you with the following words:

MOLON LABE!

I think you can take it easy, at least with regard to Congress. I know these animals.

“Expect a Presidential Order before Friday this week suspending the Second Amendment”

Obama would love to (he’s said so about forcing legislation) but does he have that power under the Constitution?

Not being naive here - the U.S. Constitution & its rule of law is respected by too many. If he tries it, he’s a dictator & that makes even DemoCraps queasy.

Even the Islamofascist in Egypt was forced to pull in his horns. Stalin & Hitler these two guys aren’t.
