I’ve done some thinking about it and decided that I’m good to stay here in Michigan. The cold would be a great weapon against the zombies.
During the winter the zombies would freeze up and a few dozen people could clear a considerable area at leisure. I also know of quite a few island on some of the inland lakes that would be fairly safe during the summer. There are also quite a few islands in the great lakes.
Same here in northern Illinois. At 12 below inFebruary I’ll wager all you’d need to kill zombies would be a hammer.
You wouldn’t have to worry about noise and you’d have a couple of safe months to collect guns and ammo. I’d shatter them with gunfire. Retreat to an island in the spring while leaving the mainland relatively clear of zombies if you need to leave the island.
I guess they could have brought the white convict instead of the big black one, but it made sense how he ended up going."
If it had been up to me, Axel, aka General Custer, would have bought it. But I agree that Oscar was more of an asset during the raid, physically.
However, I don't buy that the writers have some idea they have to get rid of a black guy to insert another.
I think you're right. That lends sense to the title of the second to last episode, "When the Dead Come Knocking", which describes the group's raid on Woodbury.
I'm just not keeping score of the characters' skin color.
I guess if I had to take it further: werewolves are the ordinary working classes, decent enough except when they lose control once in a full moon, ghosts are the middle classes (sense of property and all that), and witches are women's studies lecturers.
Not sure where the cast of Mad Men fits in, though.
No to conditioning and “someone terrified and hungry as something less human than us..to be... destroyed without remorse.”
The good guys on The Walking Dead only kill when they are attacked. There could be a zillion zombies and the good guys wouldn't care. It's when they are attacked by zombies that they kill them.
There could be millions of hungry people and I wouldn't attack them. If one of them tried to kill me, I'd have to shoot him. It's self defense just like it is today.
If a hungry man tried to kill your children, what response do you have? I don't think you would talk about the New World Order, I think you would kill this attacker to save your children.
BOVINE SCATOLOGY! (look it up). It's not “they” - IT'S YOU -I know you would run off with Daryl in a heartbeat! :o) I bet you are taking tranquilizers every day until Daryl is back in February. :o) It's a dull time right now, isn't it? No Daryl, no zombies, no bad governor, no swell fighting black girl (don't remember her name).
There are re-runs on that channel some time, you'll have to watch them for a Daryl fix until February. :o)
Modern media demonizes whites, men, and Southerners and especially white men who are Southerners. In this show, he’s the no-nonsense hero. He can shoot, he can hunt, and while often rough, is not the enemy.
I love Daryl. He has the funniest scenes.
I’d imagine that Horton Scout crossbows have seen a pretty good uptick in sales since Daryl was introduced to the show.
People write what they know. Most writers rooms are male dominated, and of course writers don’t tend to be the most socially accomplished people in the world. So the male writer’s interaction with women tend toward the extremes, they tend to be highly desirable, and either untouchable, or man hating (because guys that get turned down a lot don’t tend to ask what the common denominator was).
Mad Men is an interesting case for a couple of reasons. 1 being that the room is like 80% women. But the other interesting thing is that when you really think about it almost none of the characters are likable. All the men are philandering POSes. Most of the women are shallow and catty, except for Peggy who wants to be one of the guys so bad I’m surprised she hasn’t gone les. Peter’s wife is probably the most likable character on the show, but her problem is she’s unaware of how viciously and constantly she emasculates Peter.
But yeah for the most part women in TV and movies tend towards the unlikable. Even when they try to make a “positive strong” female she’s usually a bitch.
But even that whole princess and daddy’s little girl complex is a part of the ad man construct.
Don’s first wife was really his equal. Of course he didn’t marry her. Megan is kind of his equal, she’s at least willing to try. I’ve always found it interesting that the first wife he chose as part of his fake identity was blonde while all of his mistresses (who in many ways get to know Dick Whitman more than Don) are brunettes.
ROFL
Okay, busted. And YES! I feel bereft!
