Kathryn Bigelows killbin Laden epic Zero Dark Thirty is the most neutral-seeming America, F**k Yeah! picture ever made. In its narrative arc, it is barely distinct from a boneheaded right-wing revenge picture, but the vibe is cool, brisk, grown-up, packed with impressively real-sounding intel jargon. And the hero is no gun-toting macho man. Shes a CIA agent named Maya (Jessica Chastain), a woman in a world in which men call the shots, metaphorically and literally. Presented with the movies liberal-pleasing feminist overlay, you root for her to compel the men to do what men would do naturally if they werent so constrained by modern technological and bureaucratic and constitutional hurdles: find the motherf**kerr and blow his f**king head off. As a moral statement, Zero Dark Thirty is borderline fascistic. As a piece of cinema, its phenomenally gripping an unholy masterwork.

I hope to see Zero Dark Thirty in the next couple of weeks.
Sounds like another ‘girl power’ movie to me.. I’m surprised it wasn’t produced by Disney; Boys and men aren’t relevant in ANY of their movies (Tinker Bell, Tangled, Brave, blah blah blah).
Hmmm. I’ll see it, but I doubt that it will be when it’s in theaters.
I will say that Act of Valor is quite possibly the best movie that I have ever seen.
It means something.
It’s about men and principles that still exist, but where the actually come from I am not sure.
If only there were awards for stupid comments, yours would be in the running.
....yeah, we got Bin Laden, great, whatever..
...but the House of Saud, which funded him and his deeds, is still laughing their asses off at us..
..it ain’t over till the day we nuke those bastards from stem to stern..
'Respected' by whom? I have never heard of him. He strikes me as the sort of fellow who squats to urinate ... and prefers it that way.
Um......what?
That's why Bin Laden wasn't captured alive. Under interrogation he eventually would have implicated everyone in the extended Royal Family.
Kurt Loder, yes - formerly of MTV, of Breitbart said it was great, non political.
House of Saud? More like House of Barack. Obama has done more damage to this country than Bin Laden could ever do.
...and maybe our government duplicity in the matter..
Looking foward to this one. “Facistic”. Heh. One might think it fascistic if one ignores that it is a recounting of a bareknuckle fight against fascism.
As for the “girl-power” thing, my understanding is that it is accurate. The intelligence lead on the hunt for OBL was a woman. Facts are not an agenda.
I saw the National Geographic Channel movie about the Seal raid on the OBL compound. Eh. It was fair. This looks to be a good deal better. I liked The Hurt Locker.

Because of only your vote (Okay, maybe two)?
So it seems. Just wish all the liberals would go on and off themselves. Now, that would be Green initiative and pollution control.
Will not see it.
A bunch of Netflix commentors said it had too much Øbama in it.
My understanding was that it virtually omits Obama entirely. I know Panetta is in it, though.
This event was a great success for our military and spec operators. I don’t think we should shun recognizing it, or celebrating it, just because we justifiably disdain the President that happened to be in office when we got him.

Pass. I won’t be enriching on purpose Obama suporters.
I can spend $15 on something else.
I refuse to ever watch the liberal crap. Just another spike of the ball by obama with a little “o”.
I saw it and it was straight to VD quality in it’s writing, background, direction and acting.
Wasn’t a great movie, wasn’t all that bad either....
I guess, that means he's a guy who likes to talk (and talk and talk) about movies and doesn't make too much of an *ss of himself.
Interesting that the left seems to be uncomfortable with the politics of the film, but can't deny either the necessity of the actions depicted, or the power of the film.
Sounds like Munich, though there are differences.
