Oh well, just a thought about the *Booms*.
We had some about 20 or so years ago, always around 7AM to 9AM.
Would shake the house or I could hear them in the truck while driving to work.
Sounded like they came from the south (Gulf). It went on for a couple of weeks, pretty regular, always figured it was jets breaking the sound barrier over the gulf.
Probably out of Keesler AFB or the New Orleans Naval Air Station.
Would be heard from the Thibodaux, Houma and LaRose areas.
When we would get to work in the break room having coffee, someone would always ask, "Did you hear the booms" and just about everybody did.
Always figure they were sonic booms, had that *double rap* characteristic.

Especially when you add in they all occurred at roughly the same depths. That adds a whole nuther level of wonder to it... lol

Oh well, just a thought about the *Booms*.

You never know, and there could still be something there. After all, the first few did proceed each other in sequence. It's something to look into further, IMO.

Speaking of sonic booms, I'll never forget my dad calling me one bright Saturday morning and reminding me that the Shuttle Columbia was due to cross over Louisiana that morning.

Their contrails are awesome, so I waited outside. It never appeared, but suddenly I heard a number of rapid booms. At least two of the main engines landed less than 20 miles from my place at the time. The engines buried in the ground about 15'. The radar at the base had a pretty good fix on their impact location and directed recovery crews to the general area.

That was a sad day...

One would have to really want to be alone. Might not be bad for a year or so, or until some medical problem rises. After too long I’d feel hemmed in, like Jim Carey in the Truman Show, but who am I to talk, haven’t been out of town in 10 years. Skiing in 11. Disney in 14. San Diego in 12. I’m living in my own claustrophobic island of my neighborhood and inside the house.

Yeah all small....but one has to wonder sometimes given what we now know about stress transfers and shadows if there is not a much larger quake festering somewhere?

Take a look at the spread...that pretty incredible. Not sure I have seen anything quite that busy. East of the divide that is.

Quite a bit of rumbling across the entire continent. Small but shallow with many around that 5Km depth again for some strange reason. Don't forget to add New Madrid to your list above. ;)

Not to say there could not be one there...but I tend to think the area is stable now. However the eastern Tenn. seismic zone that’s vulnerable.
