Great list of Pearl Harbor movies. Some were good, some were awful. The most ridiculous one is still the best - The Final Countdown ("Splash the zeros!") The video clips bring back memories.

LOL!
Take that tripe somewhere else.
Well said. My father was a Marine in WWII. He went through the "meatgrinder" H*ll on Iwo Jima.
He stated often that without the Atomic bombs being dropped he likely wouldn't have survived the invasion of Japan.
One thing the bombs did also, was to end the war before the Soviets got involved, which most likely would have led to a divided post-war Japan, and perhaps another Korea-style conflict. Remember the Russkies wanted revenge for 1905.
Looking at that picture you can tell the Arizona is an old ship. It is not covered with anti-aircraft guns.
Agree. Every time that a thread like this comes up, I tout this book. He totally destroys the “it was senseless to use the bomb” argument.
“1941”
The two main “revisionist” theories for dropping the bombs are: 1. We are racists, and 2) We wanted to intimidate the USSR. The underlying premise for both theories is that we didn’t HAVE to drop the bombs to end the war, the Japanese were somehow ready to surrender. They were not.
There is no evidence to support the contention that the bombs were dropped due to racism. After all, they were originally intended to be dropped on Berlin. There is some evidence that Truman and Byrnes discussed the use of the bombs and the effect it would have on Stalin, but it appears it was only mentioned off-hand on one occasion. The prime motivation for use of the bombs was to end the war.
The Russians did indeed have plans to participate in a post-war partition of Japan, specifically wanting occupation of Hokkaido and the northern part of Honshu. They were preparing for an amphibious landing on Hokkaido when the war ended. Thank God we didn’t have to deal with “North Japan” and “South Japan.” Germany, Korea and Vietnam were more than enough.
Tora Tora Tora! Because my dad took me when it came out. I was 10. He was UDT 12 in WWII. I didn’t know at the time what it meant to him.
The Battle of Pearl Harbour, re-enacted by the women of the Batley Townswomen’s Guild.

LMAOROF
Tell the men on the Arizona how sick it made you, but you’re gonna have to talk kinda loud. They can’t hear to good under all that water.
The Japanese were our Grandparents “Muslims”. The entire Country stood behind their Emperor, and would have loved to have “killed” America.
My great Uncle was a Pearl, and the Japanese will get no sympathy from me for being bombed.
