Northern Illinois is in the Orange Bowl. It could have been Kent State if only they didn’t lose in OT to Northern Illinois.

As to the national championship, I want ND to win, but can they? I’m not so sure.

I was at a wedding Sun night and met up with an old friend. She and her husband were ranting on the out of control entitlements and redistribution. They are bitter. Now we hear rumors of tapping into our 401ks that we the workers got into as part of our retirement. We are now about to retire and see it taken from us? No way. People are MAD. Mad and bitter. And armed, I might add.

I’m happy for anyone but the SEC to win.

That said, as an Irish Catholic, can I not like Notre Dame. I’m still mad they got screwed in 93.

Whenever I see an R-rated movie edited for network television, I have to laugh when a stone killer’s words are changed to “gosh darn” from Rev. Wright’s favorite expression.

Watching Die Hard 2 on TV, I laughed out loud at the bowdlerized "Yippeekiyay Mister Falcon" from Bruce Willis. And I can't remember what movie it was where the actor's lips clearly articulated a four-syllable epithet but the sound that came out of his mouth was "milk-face".

My Dem driver was on with me last night, and his granddaughter is a student and came along to be precept-ed. My husband not only decorates the yard to make our hill glow, he plays Santa, too. He is going to be the Santa at the children’s party this Saturday. On Sunday, my driver is Santa for another group of children. He tried to get me to commmit my DH for Sunday, but we have the twins for the day. He did give DH some advice. He claimed that it is so much fun to get a little tyke up on his lap and ask him if he has been good. When the little guy says “YES!”, he asks him about July 9th. He reminds him he gave his mom a real hard time that day.....then the little guy’s face shows the panic. He had me howling with laughter on our ride back from the hospital.

When he picked on me about being a Rep, I told him I am so mad at the pubbies that I am going independent and he won’t have me to kick around anymore. He tried to tell me that I can’t do that, I told him “OH, YES I CAN, just watch me!” We ended that topic at a stalemate, but not after I reminded him that I will be blaming him for all the fallout from Obama’s reelection. His granddaughter said the family DOES NOT discuss politics with his wife.....NEVER! I had heard the same from his son who had told me before the election that he was negating his father’s vote to make it a draw...and that he would NEVER admit to his parents that he was voting Rep. He told me that if I told them he would deny it. He is as much fun as his dad on calls.

I have needed to laugh about politics since the election. Don’t think it happened before last night. I guess I am in recovery mode now.

It is 60, sunny and breezy-if there is no work for me today, I’m going to put water, a book and lunch in a small pack and disappear for a few hours into the woods...

I laugh every time I hear
The censorship of speech-
Do nicer words make a ‘rat
Anything better than a leech?

Don’t bowdlerize comments-
Just let them stand as said
If it offends virgin ears,
Just cover them up instead

Let us hear the honest words-
Keep all the comments true
And as for guarding kid’s ears,
Parents, that is up to you...

LOL!
“Milk Face” is the best M-F lip synching they could come up with?

After spending an extended Thanksgiving with our oldest son in the Dallas area, New Jersey feels chilly. And liberal.

I have banned TV news in my presence. In the car I have even banned Rush/Sean and listen only to Christmas music. I am feeling much better. I have my head firmly in the sand.

Thank you! I can imagine that you are about to OD on liberal attitude after being here for a couple weeks-what cure for that malady works for you?

The oddsmakers don't think so either. Alabama is a 9-point favorite.

Our day is very odd. There is blue sky, but scattered heavy clouds and rain is threatening. It rained all night last night, but it appears there will be more. The day is just warm enough to walk the dog in long sleeves with no coat. To say it is breezy is an understatement. OH, well, still unseasonably warm. I did spot a couple of snow flakes when I was out there. Strange day.

I have my head firmly in the sand.

I'm right there with you in Ostrich Mode. No Sean, no Rush, not even Bret Baier. I jettisoned that pompous a-hole (more self Bowdlerization) O'Reilly long before the election. I've been listening to Oldies and Christmas music. And, in the case of The Ronettes, both at the same time.

Aw, come on, Ti-that can’t be any fun. Come back out here, crank up the angry, heavy rock and meet the status quo full on...

I get a few minutes of Sean on my way home but it seems to almost always be people talking over each other. And he’s the worst offender. I don’t think I could take 3 hours of that.

I like to listen to old protest songs-even though they were about another war entirely, the spirit of some passages still applies-Even Steppenwolf’s “Monster”-

“And though the past has its share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But its protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it’s a monster and will not obey

America, where are you now
Don’t you care about your sons and daughters
Don’t you know we need you now
We can’t fight alone against the monster”

I can’t do head in the sand-I’ve tried, but the rebel I’ve always been is still way too alive, and wants/needs to do something in my own small way...

Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” is a fav, too...
