Pregnant Kate Middleton could very well be carrying twins, medical experts have commented - because the duchess is suffering from acute morning sickness.
Duchess Kate is currently being treated in hospital for the ailment, otherwise known as hyperemesis gravidarum a condition which is more commonly associated with women who are carrying twins.
Now rumours are rife that the royal, who is married to Prince William, could be carrying not just one baby, but two.
But if Kate is indeed carrying twins we wont know for a good few weeks yet. In fact the duchess isnt even at the 12-week gestation period yet, with Kate and William believed to have taken the unusual decision to announce the pregnancy so early because of her admission to hospital.
Kate remains in King Edward VII Hospital in London today, with her husband Prince William by her side, as she continues to be treated for hyperemesis gravidarum. The rare condition, which can cause dehydration and vomiting, is usually treated with the administration of intravenous fluids and anti-sickness medication.
Some women suffer with acute morning sickness up to around 20 weeks gestation but it is hoped that Kate won't suffer as badly and will be able to leave hospital in the next few days, albeit while taking bed rest at home.
Baby rumours have flown about for months now, with royal watchers noting that the duchess was spotted drinking water out of a wine glass during her and Williams South Seas trip, as well as sporting a slightly fuller figure and face which all pointing towards a possible pregnancy.
In reality everyone has been waiting for the news ever since Kate Middleton married Prince William on April 29 2011.
But it was not until yesterday (December 3) at 4.01pm that the happy news was confirmed, with a statement issued by St Jamess Palace, which read: Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.
The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.
Right, because if the doctor is a woman...!!
Just roll with it. Most UK Daily Mail readers seem to accept their paper's stalker obsession with Alyson Hannigan.
Pretty people making babies, where's the harm?
I hope she has twins, or even triplets. I hope they spurn more Brits to start having families and stop contracepting themselves out of existence. I hope all of this sparks a resurgence of larger families throughout the West.
We need it.
I pray she stays healthy and safe throughout her pregnancy.
The other one gets the iron mask.
and also the butler’s.
This so stupid. Morning sickness is not that uncommon among women carrying a single child.
Since this is some entertainment site, apparently, I guess they just love stoking rumors.
The one born first. Except I don’t know that of a precedent. My guess is that daddy killed one of the twins and held that over the survivor’s head.
I'll second that. Best wishes to them.
No, there have never been twins. And royal births always had many witnesses.
Twins tend to run in a mother’s family.
One of the twins was taken away to prison and nobody was allowed to see his face. Aramis (one of the Three Muskateers) plots to free him and put him on the throne.
+1. ;)
I did see one strange thing when they were little- I was watching one of them, and the other walked up- said something in a childish gibberish, pointed and the other shook her head yes, and they both took off...
I was like “what the heck was that???”
Now they are 16 and want to kill each other
Future Twin Kings. I can dig that!
Mom of twins here ... and we regard the “who came out first” information as being on a “need to know” basis. My husband and I think our boys BOTH act like first-borns! LOL!
They are three years older than me. No different form of communication - not that I ever heard of - and I would have heard. And there is a brother older than them by two years.
There was a time they were separated when my SIL sorta pulled my brother from the rest of the family. When reunited, they discovered they did the same thing, one of them was they both had foot surgery for the same problem and close to the same time. There were some other things but forget them now. There definitely is a special bond. It’s nice to see. King Edward, Queen Elizabeth. Eddie and Betty!
Imagine how Catherine and William will hate it, also!
They could have been born on different days!
Actually there is some evidence that the rate of morning sickness is slightly higher with twins. That’s the rate though. Many more mothers of singletons get morning sickness.
I’m wondering if Kate had IVF??
Though there may have been fewer of them, I’d say that on average England’s queens have outperformed their kings.
