"Okay, I've given a few examples of good actors who were horribly miscast. Now give me your examples. Remember, the criterion is that it must be a GOOD actor who got stuck in a lousy role." Sean Connery in "Zardoz". WTH?

Connery did ZARDOZ to pay the bills. He hit a post-007 slump and needed the work. IIRC his salary was $70k.

The movie with the giant flying head and you're worried about casting?
I suspect the film makers were less concerned with acting and more interested in getting Connery into that suspendered jock-strap costume.

Zardoz was one of the strangest films I have ever seen. Why Sean Connery ever took the part is a mystery to me, he must have had bills to pay.

Sean Connery in "Zardoz". WTH? Sean Connery as a Berber in "The Wind and the Lion".
Sean Connery as a Spanish knight in "Highlander".
Sean Connery as a Russian navy officer in "The Hunt for Red October"
