The number of gay and bisexual men being diagnosed with HIV in the UK reached an "all-time high" in 2011, according to the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
It said there had been a "worrying" trend since 2007, with more and more new cases each year.
Nearly half of the 6,280 people diagnosed last year were men who had sex with other men (MSM).
Overall, one in 20 MSM are infected with HIV.
Of those diagnosed in 2011, nearly two-thirds had not been to a sexual health clinic in the previous three years.

Forgive me if I have no sympathy for anyone contracting this disease by cause of sexually deviant behaviors. The only thing that’s a shame is that honest taxpayers will get stuck footing the bill for these perverts acts of depravity.

I found these by accident. In truth it scares me that the rates would pop up in different places at once. HIV/AIDS is only a level 2 virus. So for it to spread like this is a bit strange. Yes I know homosexuals have sex like there is no tomorrow but this is still a little fast for the virus to spread. If the stats are true that is.

Probably has to do with a lack of fear of getting the disease, since there are effective treatments available which are, in great brittian, free.
