What do they do with all the salt? That’s a lot of sodium chloride solids. Do they refine and sell it?

They turn them into salt licks for the sheeple voters of California.

If the water that comes out is pure enough, why not bottle it and sell it at Evian prices?

Been awhile since I read about these, but if I recall, once the salt and fresh water have been separated from each other, the salt is simply dumped back into the ocean from whence it came. Lefty enviro-wacko's have complained about these types of plants in the past, claiming that the excess salt being dumped back into the ocean raises the oceans salinity content in the area around the plant, and thus harms the local environment.

Of course, the lefties are systematically trying to shut down every fresh water source in California. These desalination plants would be a great source of fresh water for the State. The ocean has an almost limitless supply of water, after all. Leave it to the libtards to screw up everything.
