Notre Dame (1) v USC Thread - 8pm EST ABC TV. If Notre Dame wins they will play for the National Championship, as unfair as that might seem.
In turn, the SEC offenses have to work their butts off to score so when they face some of the other conferences in the championship games, their offences slice and dice while the defenses slow. Thus, 6 titles in a row.
It is a real shame that my dawgs collapsed against Michigan State last year. I hope they play 60 minutes against Bama and go on to play 60 solid minutes against the Irish.
Too bad we won’t get to see Ohio St. in a bowl. Their record will once again give them an overrated ranking to start next year. Hopefully, ND will get knocked around enough that they won’t get over ranked for 2013, but the “their back” crowd is drooling.
I can’t wait for a play-off system. I wish it consisted of 8 or 16 teams, but 4 will be much better than what we currently have.
Why? Sour grapes?
I am really hoping for a Dawg vs. Irish rematch of the 1980 National Title game. That was a fond childhood memory. Herschel Walker left, Herschel Walker right, Herschel Walker up the middle. He and Bo Jackson were physical freaks of their generation.
If we get past Bama, then the media will make you sick hearing about Gershel (Todd Gurley and Keith Marshal). Our two true freshmen backs have now combined for more yards than the great Herschel Walker had in his freshman year. Very cool.
Honestly, I am not 100% confident that a rematch would end with UGA winning, but it is exciting. I hope we get past Bama to see it.
And if LSU hadn't scored any points in that game, they would have lost the game.
Institutions with high academic standards like Notre Dame, Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, etc., should be held in high regard
It has nothing to do with their academics. I think the biggest issue was for years and years they were the only team that was on tv every weekend. It became nauseating.
Their record of winning in the early years was annoying. Plus, the endless praise of the media that has been and still is dominated by Northern sports writers.
Also, I don’t think my dad cared too much for Catholics. That is likely another big reason they are despised in the South East. Baptist and Catholics are like oil and water.
Without adhering to strict academic requirements, any school can have successful sports programs.
It’s official....he’s gone....So who is going to be the new guy.....going to be competing with Tennessee and Arkansas for the big names. Let the bidding begin.
Clemson’s Dabo Swinney
You got your wish. I hope it's Georgia.
